About
At Åhus museum we tell the story about became a big trading place during 7th century. Arabic coins, pearls of glas and other luxury commodoties points to the fact that Åhus was a place of importance. The town of Åhus came to belong to the archbishop of Lund. From his castle he controlled the trade. The castle is one of the remains from the Middle Ages that still remain. The exhibition at Åhus museum contains lots of archaeological finds from Åhus and its predecessors. These findings give us a glimpse of the medieval Åhus and the life in the city among merchants, scholars black brothers, the archbishop's officers, artisans and farmers. Every summer, various exhibitions complement the permanent exhibition.

Small, friendly, town museum
Jul 2019 • Solo
This is a tiny, one-room museum on the central square next to the church. The few exhibits from the excavations around Åhus are interesting and there is a translation into English available. The staff were very friendly and there are brochures available with walks around the town. Worth popping in if you are planning on doing the medieval walk.

Museum closed but Ahus is a gem!
Aug 2016 • Solo
Museum was closed, it was early morning but i wondered around the old town and it was beautiful!. See my pictures.
The houses, the small church (Sankta Maria), it was a very nice walk through history.
I loved Ahus, it has a different feeling than the other small Swedish towns. I looked for it, I didnt just got there by accident and I am happy I did. I loved the people, the locals. I stopped and talked to them while they were doing gardening or things around the houses. The old houses are crazy beautiful. again, see my pictures.
I was actually looking for a review on Ahus old town but couldn't fine one.

Ahus is awesome, go visit it!
