La Ermita de San Bartolome stands out against the mountains
Aug 2019
This is a lovely hiking area- not treacherous so all can hike. You can go into caves behind La ermita and explore them. La ermita de San Bartolome is from the XIII century and very nice also. The whole area looks great in pictures. Only drawback- no rest rooms in parking lots or anywhere else. Must wait to go back to town if needed or use the natural resources as we were told by the ticket taker.

Wonderful trekking!
Jul 2019 • Friends
Cañon del Rio Lobos Natural Park (Canyon of Wolves River, in English) is a nature region near Soria, where you can do some excursions. It follows the river, so you can see great views of it and the stone walls, which surround the river. We did a excursion to Puente de los 7 ojos (7 eyes bridge) and returned to beginning point (almost 20km). It is a very recommendable trekking and it is so easy, also for children. In fact, it is not necessary to arrive to the bridge, the most beautiful part is at the beginning, where you can see the Ermita de San Bartolomé, a little religious building and a cave. For all family!

This place is a must if you enjoy cycling or walking. Wonderful scenery and wildlife in abundance. It is a mini Grand Canyon and well worth a visit.

Breathtaking natural park

This natural park is absolutely beautiful. Definitely one of the top things to do when in Soria/Burgos.
Wild nature, different landscape, wild animals around and nice places to eat nearby (Ucero)

Wonderful hiking and bird-watching!
Apr 2017 • Couples
My husband and I hiked parts of this canyon and thoroughly enjoyed the scenery and birdlife. The terrain can change from pine-forests, to chaparral to riverine depending upon where you are in the canyon. Make sure to pack your own water and bring a camera. The native vultures are prevalent, along with many different types of songbirds. The river otter also lives in the canyon, but unfortunately we did not see one.

Don't try and do it on a bike !

A really enjoyable few hours. Walking is a good idea. A tourist office chap told us we could cycle the path. This is not an option. So many bad surfaces and stepping stones over rivers. Seeing all the lovely big birds was a delight.
Try Ely a beautiful area.

Lovely Natural Park
Jul 2016 • Friends
Visited here in July when it was really hot but enjoyed the short walk up to the old Hermitage despite the high temperatures. If you have a choice it is probably better to visit in the cooler months but you can walk as little or as long as you like and enjoy the stunning scenery and wildlife on the way.
We saw lots of griffon vultures and other birds of prey and the river was full of water lilies which were beautiful.
Make sure you take plenty of water with you and have plenty of sunscreen and a hat in hot weather and just enjoy this lovely place.

Wonderful canyon

A dramatic narrow valley leading steadily up the river. A bit like Yosemite on a smaller scale. Can get busy at weekends.

Fantastic experience for nature lovers
Sep 2015 • Couples
After a fantastic week in Rioja, we had a day for outdoor experience. The Park is located about 2 hours drive from Madrid, so it should do even for a day. The vultures are worth the effort, when we visited at the end of September, they left their nests right after noon.
It is very hot when the sun shines, so make sure that you have enough water with you. As there is non or very limited food source in the neighborhood, best is to take some sandwiches as well.
The canon is approx. 26 km long, you can enter from various gates, before you do your round, please consult with the locals, as there is no public transport in between, so you must take the same route where you come from.
There are plenty of fantastic rock formations, however the path is suitable for children as well as cyclist!

Great place for everybody!
Oct 2014 • Family
Are you interested in nature, history, food and amazing places to discover? If your answer is "yes" you are in the right place. The Canon del Rio Lobos Natural Park comprises everything: you can walk in a big natural area, discover a stunning place and a church and see the caves where people used to live many years ago. As the place is not far from a village, you can eat in a lovely restaurant nearby called "La Roca" where you can try typical meat and fish dishes from the area. I strongly recommend you visit this natural park. It well worth the visit!
