- M BrayRome, Italy3 contributionsGreat experienceWe booked our trip to Maasai Mara National Reserve with Ahambi Tours, and I have to say we enjoyed every moment of our safari. The reserve has all that it takes for a Safari in Africa. A visit to the Maasai village was very nice, especially the dance. If you love wildlife Masa Mara is the place to be and make sure you have a high-end camera. I highly recommend it.Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 21, 2023
- saltsy372North Port, Florida364 contributionsMust go park in KenyaReposting this review, because for some reason it was published with just 3 stars rather than 5. This was definitely the best park we saw in Kenya Each of the parks we went we went to have their own strengths and if you have the time you should probably try to get to at least 3 however if you want sheer size and cross section of animals, you probably can't go past the Mara. We saw more animals here than anywhere else in Kenya. more lions, more leopards, more cheetahs, more giraffe, more hippo, more wildebeest and antelope, more zebra. Plus plenty of elephants, buffalo, hyena, vultures, jackal, eagles and other raptors. probably the only one of the big 5 that are rare are black rhino...we saw one only. The scenery is unbelievable, with stunning sunrises and sunsets, the river is full of hippo and crocodile, we saw the lions actually hunting and bringing down prey, baboons everywhere, and an unbelievable array of birdlife. It really is the must do in Kenya.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten December 15, 2023
- luvninouRabat, Morocco460 contributionsAmazing dayOur visit to the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya was an absolute must-see. The reserve is vast and very nice, offering a breathtaking landscape and diverse wildlife. We were fortunate to witness a variety of animals, with an abundance of lions and lionesses, a rare sighting of a leopard, as well as ostriches, hippos, and meerkats. The richness of its wildlife of the reserve left an indelible mark on our memories. A highlight was the unforgettable picnic right in the heart of the savannah, creating a surreal and immersive experience. Our trip to Masai Mara was seamlessly organized as part of a circuit booked with Monkey Adventures. The guides provided expert knowledge, enhancing our understanding of the ecosystem and the behaviors of the wildlife. For anyone considering a safari in Kenya, the Masai Mara National Reserve is a must-visit destination. We highly recommend Monkey Adventures for their excellent planning and execution of our trip, making it a truly exceptional and memorable experience.Visited August 2023Traveled with familyWritten January 22, 2024
- Joseph RotunoNairobi, Kenya46 contributionsBest of Kenya Safari> Maasai MaraMy trip was with a beautiful couple. They arrived in Kenya on 11th February and were to spend their valentines in Maasai Mara. I was fortunate to be their guide as I was recommended by a previous client to the couple. On 11th I was able to meet up the couple at JKIA Airport and dropped them off at Kozi Suites Nairobi Hotel where they spent their first night. The next day we went to Nairobi National Park and Giraffe Center in the evening. on 13th we transferred to Maasai Mara where they were to spend another 4 nights in Porini Mara Camp. The camp offers amazing scenery and hospitality. Am glad to say that the couple also loved the park from its vast wildlife to the maasai culture and local foods as it was also their first time being in Kenya. On 17th after breakup we were to return to Nairobi but upon request and their approval I was able to take them to Naivasha where we visited Hellsgate National Park for a Day trip: The couple did a bike ride here and at around 2PM we left for Nairobi. 18th they returned to their country having made their vacation cheerful.Visited February 2024Traveled with familyWritten February 25, 2024
- Gavin CAustralian Capital Territory, Australia27 contributionsA visit to Maasai Mara reserve within the Maasai landMy wife and I visited the Masai mara reserve and it turned out to be one of our most memorable safari experiences. The lodges where we stayed were exceptional, and the safari itself was outstanding. We were especially fortunate to have numerous encounters with various wild cats in a single day, including a leopard, two different groups of lions, and cheetahs, along with a plethora of other wildlife. Much of this success can be attributed to our diligent driver/guide, who was excellent at tracking animal movements and catered to our specific interest in spotting wild cats, which we adore. It's worth noting that as of 2024, the park entry fees have increased to $100 during the off-season and $200 in the peak season, so that's something to consider when planning your visit.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 8, 2024
- Manisha HColombo, Sri Lanka256 contributionsAmazing!I loved the Maasai Mara National Reserve. We saw lionesses hunting prey. We saw a black rhino. We saw so many animals and it was amazing. I could easily go back and spend days driving around. If you come to Kenya, this is a must visit. It is the largest National Park in Kenya and the landscape is stunning. The Weather: We travelled in April 2024 which had more rain than there has ever been in previous years. We were lucky, because the two nights we were there, it rained only at night and we had dry game drives. It was a unique experience and I highly recommend it. I hope to someday visit again.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 8, 2024
- Marcel Kuijper25 contributionsMasai Mara always deliversWe always say: Masai Mara (and the Serengeti Tanzania) always deliver. With this we mean that you will always see great wildlife in an amazing setting. The scenery is just breathtaking and so many spots to go to where you still can escape the mass tourism. Our favourite part of the Masai Mara is by far the Mara triangle. Ask your private guide to find a beautiful tree for your lunch and let him check the spot first before you step out of the vehicle. If you have doubts if you like to visit the Masai Mara, my advice would be : just do. Why wait, go to KenyaVisited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 12, 2024

- Paul SGlasgow, United Kingdom20 contributionsA Truly magical experience!!This was a truly magical experience - staying in a lodge right next to the park and hearing the hyenas whilst you walked to the lodge from the main building in the dark (Maasai guide taking us!!) and then waking in the morning to find a herd of zebra walking in front of the lodge. First safari was marked with impala, elephants, wildebeest, giraffe, warthogs and more and best of all 3 lions walking around the van!! Next day added more lions, cheetah, hippos and crocodiles (and we got stuck in a ravine and had to be pulled out!!"). If you go on any safari you should go the Mara. Do be prepared for a LONG drive from Nairobi (up to 7 hours depending on road conditions and traffic (particularly over the Escarpment)) - roads deteriorate significantly as you near the Mara and you can be bouncing over ruts for a good 30-60 minutes. Don't let the travelling there put you off, it is magical and beyond your expectations when you get there.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 16, 2024

I was part of a group of 14 that did a 5 day trip which included 2 days, 2 nights at the Mara , one day in Lake Naivasha and a day at giraffe center amd David Sheldrick!
Bonfire 100% delivered.
Our game drives were unreal, seeing cheetahs, leopard with it's kill, on an evening game drive was the perfect way to start our trip! Our drivers James Njoroge and Philip Nderitu will always be my go to option. If available! They navigated this park like they literally live there!
They were courteous and friendly and showed us all the best spots along the way! It's one thing to go to mara but it's another to understand the psychology of animals, how they move, when they move, the timings etc! These 2 guys!!!
Thank you so much !

I went with a group of 14 people to the Massai Mara and booked the whole trip through Bonfire Adventures. They were AMAZING! If you are going to Kenya for safari, I would highly recommend booking with Bonfire. The package we booked was 2 nights, 3 days, Bonfire is a Kenyan based (and owned company) that plans safaris & other excursions. There are options for everyone. We were all from the U.S, and the whole time of planning, Bonfire was super responsive and offered great deals.
We had 2 guides, James and Phillip and they were WONDERFUL!! Some of the best tour guides I've ever had. They picked us up in Nairobi and drove us the 5+ hours to the Mara. We did 2 bathroom stops (on the way out and in). It was a bumpy ride (which is inevitable), but it was a great way to see the country of Kenya.
James and Phillip were always ready to take us wherever! They were super knowledgable about all of the animals in the Mara and made sure we saw as many animals as possible. We saw so many animals! Driving through the Mara can be bumpy at times, but its worth it to make sure you get to see all of the animals. James and Phillip were so friendly and our group had so much fun exploring Kenya with them! Definitely make sure to pack plenty of snacks and water, because you will be far away from anything.
TLDR; If you are going to Kenya, book your trip through Bonfire adventures and request James and Phillip as your guide!!

Maasai mara Cultural festival day is an annual event that is celebrated in renowned maasai mara has been the choice of majority and preference of it's organizers due to its centrality and convenience. The aim of the event is to showcase the beauty and pride of Samburu ethnic community culture with a blend of urbanization. It is meant to remind residents of these urban centers especially the Samburus and their friends that it is important not to forget where they come from as history defines who we are and gives us a sense of love and belonging. The event is also meant for social integration and cohesiveness among the different races and ethnic communities living within and without the borders of the Republic of Kenya as the saying goes no man is an island and therefore the event is not only open to maasai mara people but also to their friends etc.DRESSING; MAA REGALIA

Masai Mara is overrated. The 3 days 2 nights trip was ridiculous. It was mainly just the drive without so much to see other than the vegetation. The wildebeest and zebras are the majority. I had hoped to see the wildebeest migration but didn't. The interesting animals to see were the lions maybe. However they are used to humans so much so they almost look domesticated. Didn't see any rhinos or leopards. Saw a few cheetahs and elephants. Thinking about it now, I saw many people than animals in the park😂
For those who like exclusivity or privacy. Masai Mara isn't for you.
I also think the people in the Masai cultural communities should be taxed!

In December 2023, I had the pleasure of embarking on a a 4-day Safari tour with Cedro Adventures. I wholeheartedly endorse this company. Sharon, the sales Manager, was incredibly kind and accommodating, ensuring all our needs were met promptly and efficiently. Everything was delivered as promised, right on schedule and at the agreed-upon price, leaving me with absolutely no grounds for complaint.
If you're considering a Safari in East Africa, I highly recommend requesting Elisha as your guide. His expertise is unparalleled. The safari was equally impressive, offering us the chance to spot all of the 'big five', experience a night amidst wild animals, and take in some truly breathtaking views.
I've already recommended this company to several of my friends and would be more than happy to share my positive experience with others.

It's worth noting that as of 2024, the park entry fees have increased to $100 during the off-season and $200 in the peak season, so that's something to consider when planning your visit.

Because of the exceptional rain since December 2019, some of the infrastructure (bridges and roads) had been damaged but repairs were well on the way. The rain meant that the grass was taller than normal so the animals seemed concentrated in the North East Corner where the grass was shortest - they like to see what's coming! I believe this was unusual and there were hundreds and hundreds of animals in sight. An amazing selection of birds and mammals - as I said, everything you can imagine and more (the only thing we didn't see I believe were rhino).
One think of note was the new tarmac road right up to the gate (well about 100m short).

Big 5 in one national park.
It is very reasonable for the entrance fee increase from usd 70 to usd 200 as it's really worth visiting. To increase your chance to witness river crossing, personally think August would be a better timing. Please at least stay three days or more there. It will never disappointed you.
We witness a topi giving birth in Maisa Mara. It's really very touching.
