This is the last place we visited on Day 2 Okinawa trip. After visited Nakinjin Castle Ruins, we drove for 20 min before arriving at Kouri Island. I must say that before you cross the Kouri bridge, you should park your car at the car park before the bridge as that is the best spot to take beautiful pictures of the Kouri bridge.
You can purchase the JTB Enjoy Pass at a discounted price online at klook website which allowed you to visit Churaumi Aquarium plus 4 other places of interest (which include Kouri Ocean Tower). As we have planned to go for more than 4 locations, we decided to pay for the tickets at 800 yen for adults.
It is kinda of interesting as you will be seated at a driverless buggy which bring you to the top level (entrance), and it comes with voice commentary on Ocean Tower in selected languages. We particularly like the observatory tower (topmost level) which has panoramic view of the sea and Kouri bridge. Super windy and very ideal place to catch great picture.
I would say that the admission is pricey but still worth a visit if you are on the island and wish to catch some really nice photos.

Besides 360 breathtaking ocean from the tower, there was also a sea shell musuem in the tower for visitors to see huge collection of sea shell. A good place to visit for everyone if you are visiting Nago area.

シェルミュージアムは世界中から集めた貝 約1500種類、1万点を展示しています。
色や形が様々あるので、じっくり見ていると時間があっという間に過ぎてしまいます。
昨年11月から デジタルアクアリウムも上映しているので、
より 海の中にいる気分で貝をお楽しみいただけたのではと思います。
タワー最上階からは 大パノラマの景色をお楽しみいただくことができます。
沖縄本島北部エリアの観光地として、お勧めいただき大変ありがとうございます。

Our guide directed us to purchase the ticket at a machine within the nearby Lawson. Ticket at the machine cost 720Yen for Ocean Tower rather than the usual price of 800Yen. Tried the pumpkin crossiant at the level 2 of Ocean Tower

The concept of this tower does seem a bit gimicky but it was better than my expectations. Your 800yen ticket gets you a ride in a driverless buggy that comes with some commentary/trivia in your selected language and some nice views of the ocean and bridge. At the top there's a shell museum. In the tower itself you can go right to the top level which is outdoors to get a great view. It was super windy and wet from the recent rain when we were there. Like most attractions there's a gift shop. This gift shop had so many samples of the snacks such as local chinsoke, cookies, chocolate ect (we probably did eat enough to make our ticket worth it). ..they also had some products from the Nago pineapple park. This attraction isn't a must visit but is nice if you're in the area.

This is the second time i had visited this site. Infact, it was the first site duringbthis trip. Some may find that there is nothing much to see except bridge and ocean but it is a nice 2 hour drive from airport. Yes. We rented private car with driver as we arrived at 8am. Instead of waiting and wasting time to check in at 4pm, we went ahead with the private car and we decide the places of interest, starting from north, furthest away from naha. Along the way, we see local houses, factories, restaurants, cemetaries, etc.
The wow moment came when we cross that beautiful bridge. It is not San Francisco or Dragon bridge but it was a long bridge and both sides water and water and more water.
It is just so serene, peaceful, as if we are living busy hectic work life to escape here.
The area is like a small village with small cafes, beach on way in. The ocean tower has a bell at the highest. We each rang 3 times for good luck, prosperity and great health!
Now, we had coffee at one level overlooking the blue ocean. To get up here, take the free auto golfcart..just very unique and fun. Like a snake it wheels itself up...just so cute and fun. Love it!
You start by going into the seashell museum. For a second time, i still like it. But for others may not be interested. Kids may love this place. Then off into sa pastry section. We bought alot of cakes and cookies. For 5k yen, u get a 1k discount or 10 percent...
All of us each bought more than 5k worth of pineapple cakes, salted cookies, pumpkin cakes, etc. Taste very good. Good as gifts. Small box 350yen, Medium 550 yen and Large 800 yen and above. So convenient if you want small boxes. There is a pineapple wine cake that tastes great too.
We did not patronise the restaurant this time. We stayed for 1.5 hour.
Good to visit if you love ocean view.

橋を渡るときはまるで海の上を飛んでいるかのような気持ちになります。

Kouri island can be reached by road, thanks to a bridge that connects it from the main land. The Kouri ocean tower can be located near the bridge. Visitors ride on an automated cart from the ticket entrance to the entrance of the tower, giving you a nice leisurely view of a garden and the ocean. The seashell museum at the ground floor of the tower was exceptional. We spent a long time admiring the well displayed shells. Then we went to the top deck to ring a bell and to take in a panoramic view of Kouri Island and its surrounding. Worth a visit!

We happen to visit Ocean Tower without really knowing what to find. After the parking you are invited to take an automatic cart, only fun for children for a very small drive and join the tower overlooking the island.

The views at the top of the tower was breathtaking. There is a gift shop that makes their pastries and snacks on the spot as well. A good place to spend an hour or two soaking in the amazing sceneries around you. There is a restaurant located there as well for you to sip coffee and have a relaxing morning or afternoon.

I drove my family in about 1.5 hour from Cape Hedo to Kouri Ocean Tower (mapcode 485 693 485*14) via the famous Kouri Bridge and spent about 2 hours here in the late afternoon (about 4pm).
Kouri Ocean Tower was opened in November 2013, and is open daily from 9am to 6pm. After we bought our tickets via vending machine (¥800 for adults and ¥600 for students), we proceeded to ride an automated cart that came with a 5 minute audio-guided in English to get to the main entrance. Once inside, we enjoyed ourselves at the 82-metre tall Kouri Ocean Tower in the following:
(1) Looking at the display/exhibits of more than 10,000 shells gathered from every part of the world in the Shell Museum on the first floor. I love sea shells and I wanted to purchase shells unique to Japan from the shell shop but the staff told me that there were no local sea shells
(2) Admiring the limited angle view while being protected from the strong winds at the indoor observation areas with glass cover on the second and third floors
(3) Taking photographs, ‘wefies’ and ‘selfies’ of the spectacular panoramic views of the East China Sea, Kouri Bridge and the Kunigami coastline of Okinawa Island at the open air top floor, and with the strong chilly wind blowing at us. The top floor has a bell and nice architectural structures, which form interesting backdrop for photographs
(4) The sea that encompasses the Kuori Bridge is a truly beautiful mixture of turquoise-blue and dark blue. We couldn’t see when we drove across the Kouri Bridge but could appreciate it from the bird-eye view from the Kouri Ocean Tower
(5) Shopping for souvenirs and food items at the shop (we bought several boxes of pineapple chocolates/chinsuko at a discount)
(6) No horde of tourists while we were there in the late afternoon, but there were some small group tourists. Perhaps they had already left earlier.
There is an Ocean Blue Restaurant with accompanying beautiful view of the surrounding while you are dining (we didn’t eat at the restaurant because we were not hungry). I read that their special Okinawan style chewy pizza made with local Agu pork and fresh vegetables is a ‘must try’. There is also the Kouri Island Museum on the first floor where the history of Kouri Island is displayed.
To top it all up, while we were leaving the Kouri Ocean Tower, the sun came out underneath the dark clouds to the right of the Kouri Bridge in a marvellous sunset.
The Kouri Ocean Tower has endeared itself to my top 5 ‘must visit’ attractions on Okinawa Island. Don’t miss this attraction!
