Please do not be misled by my rating. This shop is famous for its smoked crabs, but because it's not the season, I didn't get to try this delicacy.
The smoked snacks or titbits are relatively expensive. We only tried the smoked walnuts, which was good.
This is a good stop-over if you are travelling from Otaru to the Shakotan peninsula.

The amazing smell that greets you from outside this place is just the start, go inside and you will find a variety of smoked and dried fish, seafood, nuts and vegetables. The owner has a large selection of samples on hand that he freely offered when we showed interest in the food but were unsure of the taste. Not the cheapest food around, we paid about 3500yen for a large leg of octopus, a salmon cutlet and a packet of crunchy shrimp (worth the money!) we don't speak Japanese and he didn't speak English but it wasn't a problem.

This is a cute little shop. We were hoping for lunch and the best we could do was a very tasty quiche. The owner has free samples and if you like smoked shellfish, def worth a visit.
