I was recommended by the hotel Utreia Moissac (which is a very nice and convenient to train station accommodation) owner to go early for morning mass. It was only 2 other visitors in the church and the singing of nuns was beautiful and touching. The...More

On my first visit, I paid €6.50 to enter the Abbatiale St James de Compostella’s famous clôitre (cloisters), completed in 1100. They’re regarded as the most beautiful and best preserved cloisters in the world, an exquisite example of the best of Roman art; it’s a...More

In amongst a busy square, huge towering church. Worth a detour to Moissac especially as it’s the start of the canal des deux mers

The history and the architecture with the symbolic detail of the columns of the cloister are beautiful.

Visited with friends who live in Moissac, lots of history if you study stone carvings you will enjoy the Cloister, the courtyard is very impressive. They also have a reception area where you pay a small entrance fee and have the opportunity to ask questions.

This one thousand year-old abbey and Cloister, listed as part of UNESCO World Heritage and a major stop on the pilgrimage Way to Santiago de Compostela, have to be one of the most impressive buildings I have ever seen. The stone carvings and sculptures on...More

I visited Abbaye Saint Pierre on my way home through France last week. Despite being English, as my French is pretty fluent, I decided to take the 1.30h tour in French rather than the 45min tour with English headset. And I am so glad I...More
