- Khai AlexanderCaribbean2 contributionsSo my friend and I booked a half day tour to visit some of the local attractions in Ubud. Initially the tour consisted of four specific location which the coffee plantation was one. We requested to swap out the coffee plantation site for another but our driver insisted on it. He convinced us to go. We got there and we were quite impressed with the view of the greenery and variety of plants. There were some luwaks in cages with a sign stating that they release them back into the wild every week. (Which I now do not believe at all). We got some free samples and were pleasantly surprised with the taste of everything. When we got to the souvenir shop I was shocked by the prices. It was generally 150-210 k IDR. We didn’t know any better and were under the impression that it was exclusive to the plantation where we were. We spent approximately 2milion collectively in the gift shop. We I got home is when I took time to do some research on the place and products and after that I immediately knew we were scammed and lied to. We looked on the maps and saw that there were actually several plantations in the district which have the same practices. The Satria plantation our drive took us to was quite a distance from our accommodation (At the end he charged us extra cause our tour went over the specified time) We went to the mall in Kuta and found the exact same things we bought for a third of what we paid (with better packaging too). We still at this point hadn’t opened any other products. Opening the coffee we found that it’s a pre-mixed instant coffee with creamer and sugar and that is also for the tea. The essential oils are not oils just fragrance /perfumes. The coffee plantation is nice to see but DO NOT buy anything there if you care to use your money wisely during your stay in Bali. Beware of the tour guides as they will insist on taking you to place where they receive commission for bringing visitors or they’d even bring you to friends or family members of there’s who have a specific craft business alsoVisited February 2025Traveled with friendsWritten February 21, 2025
- jean philippe b10 contributionsFake products. We bought datk chocolate (store say 70% cocoa) and tea. I opened the chocolate bar shortly after the visit and found out it taste like a cheap oily chocolate. Then when we arrived at our hotel i wanted to try the tea and found it was just a koolaid type of mixture with no apparent tea in it. The only good part to this story is that the tasting experience before is actually real product that are good. It is clearly designed to lure you into buying products but they do it in a scammy fashion which is bad for the reputation of the tour drivers who bring their clients there and send a bad message to tourist about Indonesia. Improve your business practice, this won't payback long term.Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten June 20, 2024
- Nathalie R1 contributionThis was a nice experience overall. Very friendly people and the place is well kept. And I can even be angry about falling for the dumbest tourist trap. I really am at fault for buying tea and coffee containing 75% sugar. Mind you, the teas and coffees were about €8 -€9 a package and the luwak coffee about €91 for 250 grams. So shame on us for being gullible. I’m afraid to even open the luwak coffee after tasting the “cheaper” ones 🤣Visited October 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten November 11, 2024
- El CGreater Perth, Australia7 contributionsTwo stars for the tastings which were quite nice. The tour was a small area of plantings coupled with some viewings of beans and a lady roasting beans. The reason for the low review is the ridiculously overpriced shop. I come from a place where it’s very expensive to live, and I was still taken aback by the prices of the items in the shop. I only bought a block of chocolate, as I felt I should buy something in return for the tastings. Other reviews indicate the items like tea aren’t good quality. Please don’t buy at these prices. This sort of tourist trap leaves a bad impression of Bali. It feels like a scam. If I’d done my research before going on my day tour I’d have chosen a different coffee place to visit.Visited October 2024Traveled with familyWritten October 7, 2024
- BiancaSydney, Australia37 contributionsThe place looks amazing and the guide explained the various spices, herbs and other medicinal plants in their garden. It's certainly not a farm. And there are two caged animals, supposedly eating the coffee beans that are used for the coffee. The tasting was lovely with great views and we had a lovely guide explaining them all. Nice to relax. Bought a few teas and when we came home there are no instructions and ingredients in the packet. When we opened the packets, it has nothing but sugar, with a flavour. Poor quality and certainly not organic. The chocolate bars are by far the best and makes a nice hot chocolate. My recommendation is to not go there if you're an animal lover, as the animals are not happy. Also do not buy anything as you are served with the 'real deal' during tasting and you come home with flavoured sugar. Best to make it all at home yourself or buy proper tea from organic stores.Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten June 13, 2024

DO NOT visit Satria Agrowisata UNLESS
You want to be ripped off buying bags of flavoured coloured powdered sugar products under the guise of Tea or Coffee. We arrived home to discover we paid $14 Australian for a 200grm bag of sugary rubbish.x 7
Although we were not expecting beans, the coffee wasn’t even ground coffee. It was a bag of sugar maybe instant coffee and non dairy whitener. Like the sugary flavoured instant coffee you can buy at the local supermarket for $5. This place is EXTREMELY deceptive and we were stupid enough to not ask the right questions. The products are in foil bags in boxes all beautifully presented in a lovely shop along with essential oils ( I’m now guessing they too are fake) so you cannot see the product nor how they are made and the boxes have no instructions nor list of ingredients which should have alerted me earlier but I assumed the details of how to brew and list of ingredients would be inside the box in a leaflet. I’m guessing it’s all actually artificial flavours. Not the organic genuine products they claim during the tasting. It’s merely a money making scam and I’m sure the drivers get a kick back for taking you there to be scammed. Would you like to visit a coffee farm while we are here in Obud and learn how it’s all made and processed he asked. I wish I had opened a bag before we left Bali or read the reviews online as I have now I’m back home. So many red flags! . I would have happily gone back and opened every single bag in front of all the fellow tourists and thrown the contents all over the floor then demand my money back. We threw away $140 on rubbish. It’s powdered lolly water. Nothing more. The only genuine product was the rice tea. Big deal. A bag of wild rice…. Probably not even organic 😳

My experience at Satria Agrowista 1 Balinese Coffee and Tea tasting shop was nothing short of a disgrace. The staff's abhorrent behavior and appalling customer service left me feeling utterly disrespected and unwanted. Their blatant discrimination and negative attitude towards Indian clients was absolutely appalling.
The staff's complete lack of cooperation and their obvious intention to push sales over providing genuine service was deplorable. They callously dropped samples of coffee and tea for tasting and promptly abandoned me, clearly underestimating my potential as a customer. To their surprise, I ended up spending a substantial amount exceeding Rp.400,000 in their shop.
For any Indian considering a visit to Satria Agrowista 1 for a taste of Balinese coffee, I strongly urge you to reconsider. This establishment clearly holds a prejudiced view towards Indian patrons and fails to treat them with the respect they deserve. The management must be held accountable for allowing such disgraceful behavior to persist, and the Ministry of Tourism in Indonesia should investigate this matter promptly.

We were on a sightseeing tour of Bali and here today. The place is nice.
But DO NOT BUY ANYTHING.
Cheap Chinese palenka, based on the principle of just adding water. The bags are faceless, only signed with a marker, no branded packaging, ingredients or expiration date, costs a lot of money 130k for tea and 160k for 3in1 coffee.
The seller rubs in something about technology, supposedly that natural leaves are crushed so that no sediment remains, but this is complete nonsense. Sadness and disappointment
Be carefull!!
Souvenirs and oils look like cheap fakes - there’s nothing natural there

I visited the rice terraces with a Russian-speaking guide! Special thanks to him for the photo! The view is beautiful, it's a fairy tale for the eyes! There are downsides to the crowds of tourists and people wanting to take photos against a beautiful background, but this is the fate of all beautiful Instagrammable places. The guys are prepared for this and rent out colorful dresses for photos (100k), and it’s simply magical to ride on the swings above the terraces.

tourist trap but pretty so as long as you don't purchase anything you might even like the experience
Mar 2024 • Couples
nice presentation, we knew it is probably a scam but didn't want to antagonize our driver ;) As expected after making us feel guilty with free samples we purchased the cheapest product available, still outrageously expensive (8£ for 200g of powdered chemical ginger and sugar that costs 0.50p in every supermarket). Enjoy the nice garden, it is not plantation, and have a sip of free lovely teas and coffee s. Just remember that what they sell is not what you sample very far from it. Caged poor animals aside skip it if you can, but probably your driver or a tour guide will bring you here anyway, commission will not earn itself right?
P.S. of course no Civit Lewak cat coffee is sold or made here :)

NOT a tourist trap.
If you are travelling with small children, this is the perfect stop. The tea and coffee plantation is nothing like a proper plantation. It's more like a museum plantation walk through, which suits young children really well. They don't need to walk forever to find the vanilla, turmeric, cocoa and ginseng plants. This kept the kids engaged and asking questions. The luwak coffee making process was also a short walk through and kids are able to roast coffee beans on a traditional stove. Again, great learning experience for kids but obviously they cant be making all the coffee they sell in that small hut. Coffee and tea tasting was lovely. Don't know how pregnancy friendly the teas and coffees are. Do your research regarding what you can and can't have before you go because pregnancy diets vary culture to culture. We bought coffee. The coffee seems to be legitimate and not instant coffee as there is residue that instant coffee would otherwise not leave. Bought the rice tea, this is not sugar and powder. It actually has no sugar and has red rice granules. Apparently, this tea is great for your bones. All other teas, they sell tea with sugar and the same tea with a less sugar option. Would be great if there were expiry dates and other information on the teas but I'm pretty confident with my own taste buds and sense of smell. There were no expiry dates in the past and our ancestors relied on their sharp senses.
The tour costs nothing. The tea tasting and the views are exceptional. There is a distinct flavour to all the teas and coffees. The Luwak coffee cost is basically nothing. Teas and coffees at the shop are reasonably priced. Tea and coffee tasting is educational and so is the tour. You get all this for free. I can't understand some of these reviews. We walked away relaxed and with the whole family being a little more knowledgeable.
Yes it seems as though the driver promotes this place for some benefit they are getting, but if you purchase nothing, it's not out of your pocket. No one forces you to buy anything.

We went to this plantation, enjoyed complimentary coffee samples, then ushered through to the gift store, we bought the avocado coffee and ginseng coffee (that we’d tried). When we got home & opened the pack there is no coffee but only flavouring, for a 200gm pack it cost us Au$16. It’s a scam, do not buy there. I attach a photo.

Hi, I visited Satria Agroeisata. I bought lemongrass tea. There is no instruction in the box how to use it. Could you please tell me how to use tea? Why the tea is just white powder?
Written May 31, 2017
We also bought tea from lemongrass. We do not know what kind of white powder it is, so we did not use tea. Like all other products ... ((
