The Balinese culture and history continues to blow my mind as we arrive at a mystical and Holy place named Gunung Kawi. I'm really not sure if I can even explain this, but I will give it a try. From high above the jungle, a...More

Amazing! Worth a visit. But there are a lot of steps and it gets pretty hot and humid so may be a limiting factor for some. You need a sarong -- men and women. Either brig your own or borrow one at the entrance. Don't...More

If you are into temples then Tirta Empul and nearby Gunung Kawi should be top of your lists. Lots of shops down to the steps, then some beautiful rice fields along the steps and finally a beautiful river and bridge at bottom. Very interesting and...More

The steps are quite long, but it is well worth the effort. The scenery is beautiful and there is plenty to see in this temple complex. You can also do some shopping on the way down or up.

The statues in rock niches are overwhelming and couldn’t imagine how the ancestor built it. You don't do by a sarong cause you are provided one for free at the ticket check. Not recommended it to people with a weak heart or poor physical condition...More

Went here with friends who live in Ubud, though this was a first for them, too. Plenty of structures to see and lots of natural beauty, too. Ladies making Hindu offerings, prayers being offered. A lovely experience

One hour is enough. About 15 minutes down and 15 up. That leaves you a half hour at the bottom. If you take lots of pictures or want to enjoy the site you might need and extra 15 min.
