It is a very beautiful beach cove with ocher sand, the water is clear and warm.
Unfortunately, due to its close proximity to the airport runway, very ugly buildings have been built there to accommodate the hordes of tourists who come to this beach at certain times solely to take photos of planes approaching the runway. .
It’s true that this type of photo is quite amusing. Please note that you will have to pay 4000 dong to park each scooter and 3000 for access to the beach.

We scoped out a few beaches on the island, but this was our favourite! The beach is spotless, no rubbish when we were there, unlike some other beaches. There are a couple of restaurants, we got some drinks and seafood noodles, the portion was big enough for 2 people to share for lunch. The only quirk here is it’s next to the airport so you see the planes coming in. We liked it and the planes really weren’t that load at all.

First time going to a remote island but she is also beautiful. I started from Tran De wharf, took 2.5 hours to reach Con Dao. it's terrible. Big waves cause the boat to wobble. I was seasick and tired. But when I set foot on the island, I felt everything was worth it. Blue sea, white sand, fresh air. It's a small island with few people so I can fully enjoy this place. There are many animals on the island such as monkeys.

Rent scooter to travel to this beach, several nice view points along the way.
Restaurants at the beach are expensive compared to town, which is to be expected.
The view is beautiful. Also passenger planes fly directly over the beach to land at airport runway.
The beach is quiet and sandy with lots of shady trees.
There are no bins to throw rubbish and cleanliness is an issue, which can be easily improved.

Spent the day here. Wonderful beach out of the wind and the airplanes landing are a bonus! My 11 year old son and i had a great time playing out in the waves. The food here was decent and drinks and chairs available. Ordered from a couple places but our favorite was the place closet to the airfield. Very friendly and decent prices.

I haven't been all the braches, but Dam Tram is the best one I visited in Con Dao. Long and nice beach, nearby is another hidden beach. More interesting you can watch the planes landing very closely, just a spectacular view!

Today we're went there and we were totally disappointed. On the whole beach on the water line was full of trash (photo), on the water we saw brown oil (photo), walking on the sand heard the sound like on the snow on the severe winter! and also was there black canal stretching from the airport(photo). Unfortunately every beach on the island is litteredared and one on the other site of the airport(the longest) is It is treated as a dump. Vietnamese doesn't care about nature.

Our guidebook recommended a trip to Bãi Đầm Trầu, and so we dutifully packed a day sack and hailed a taxi. Little did we know we would end up spending three days here, commuting back and forth from our accommodation. Photos cannot do it justice; it is the cleanest and most beautiful beach we found on the island. As is to be expected, there are a few visitors that turn up during the day, but never enough to spoil the setting. We also didn't have any problem with sandflies, but if worried just bring along some deet and a mosquito coil. Just remember to agree with your taxi driver when to collect you!
A special shout out has to go to the Hồng Long Quán restaurant (the furthest right of the three as you face the shore from the sea). Whilst they may have taken the island attitude to heart (read, you will need to get up to order), the beers were cold and the food was excellent. If you hang around after 4pm you may even catch some karaoke. They have some clean shady seating where you can observe the freshly caught seafood in clear and flowing water tanks and even sun loungers you can take down to the beach. I particularly recommend the stir fried spinach with garlic.

Wow, I couldn't believe that it is existed on Earth. The beach has got smoothly white sand which was gentle and lovely. The beach and sea was even more beautiful in sunny day at noon time. I was deep in nature like timeless moment.

We are Australian and loved this place. Super friendly staff. Just be polite and you are made so welcome. Good manners go along way. This is not a 5 star resort so don't complain. In fact I would hate to have a 5 star place there. We had beach chairs on the beach and suited us just perfectly. Great local food, beer and a snooze in the hammock. Had a swim, snorkel, a jet ski and played on the beach with my kids. We went to the beach a few times. Organize with your taxi driver a time to pick you up. Fantastic view of the jets landing. There are basic toilets, showers and change rooms, nothing fancy but just what a family needs. Plan to spend most of the day there. Food and drinks are well priced and you don't need to spend the $$ to have a good time.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.

Hello,
My husband and I are planning on going to Vietnam for Christmas this year. I'd like to know if there are places to rent umbrellas, chairs, towels, drinks and coolers for the day so we don't have to carry stuff from our hotel. We'd also like to know if the beach is clean, or if it is also plagued by the trash/rubbish problem we've been reading about.
Thanks,

It's pretty clean at dam trau. If you go there, just buy a drink / food at one of the restaurants ( right one) and u can sit on the beach bit all day. There's wifi too! It may be worth bringing your own towel. The chairs have some on already.

Hi Richard, we are travelling from Joburg to Con Dao and I wanted to ask you some questions about accommodation, location, ferry etc...
we are planning on going by the boat (did you try it) Is 4 nights enough on the Island? Which is the best location and can you recommend a mid price accommodation option or two. I look forward to your response. Marion
