    Amazing views, totally worth it
Expensive experience, but worth the effort and the money, to be able to see the natural park from a vantage point and be close to the crater of Mt Teide. Parking can be a problem - allow yourself plenty of time (not just the 20 minutes stipulated). Cabins are a bit crowded for my taste (up to 45 people). Do not use if you're claustrophobic or have a heart problem. Important: Take a jacket or a jumper: the temperature is 10 degrees cooler at the top (it was 5 C on the day we went, when in the town it was 27). You can only stay at the top for an hour, due to air conditions (low oxygen).

Public bus can be a problem
First the public bus 342 from Los Cristianos to Mount Teide. There is only 1 per day there and 1 back. If the bus is full it does not stop to pick up, this happened to us although we were first in the queue. We spoke to 4 others in the queue and all 6 of us went to the taxi office where the buses go from and found out it was 70 Euros regardless of number of passengers. 12 Euros each is only slightly more than the bus. If possible get a small group and go by taxi removes the risk. On the way back down some people were left at the last stop, no idea how they got back. The bus starts at El Duque, picks up at Costa Adeje and finally at Los Cristianos, if it has seats available. It also stops other times along the route. On Teide it stops at a parador, then cable car and finally El Portillo. The cable car MUST be booked in advanced online only. You can also prebook walk to actual summit which takes some stamina. Get in line 20 minutes before the 10 minute journey and be guided into the enclosed cable car. The journey is quick and smooth and the views great from the top if the weather is good. There are 2 trails around the summit, walking boots recommended, take around 15 minutes each. Back at base there is a pleasant cafe and shop. The Teide legend is very small but interesting, comes as part of your ticket price and you see it after descent. From the base you can take a bus (QR code at bus stop gives you times) to the Parador and El Portillo. We went to El Portillo to ensure we were on the 342 bus back to Los Cristianos. Their is a small cafe at El Portillo. You can also walk free trails from the Parador or the cable car and catch the bus around the area. A good map is available from the park.

My experience at Tivoli La caleta
The hotel is totally renovated and well decorated. While my room was clean and the bedding was comfortable, reception staff were not really helpful or informative on exchange rates and billing. What I really did not like: I was given nonsense and false info while they could simply have said“ we calculate and get back to you later The 100 Euro gift card which I received, was useless and not practical at all. I felt like I have been deceived. The location is fabulous. Bohemian Temporary decoration was very nice, how ever Tivoli la caleta would not be my choice if I travel again to Tenerife

Recommended but plan and consider the weather, your age and fitness level.
Great tour this time… 20 degrees celcius and almost no wind, clear view all round the island. This was May, and we got lucky with a spur of the moment online booking getting us on the next car. Contrast to a February visit, with long queues, -2 degrees celcius at the top, icy sleet and windy, where you took one look at the cloud cover below and then hurried to the queue to get down. So, plan carefully. The last 300m ascend on foot requires a permit and when you get out of the cable car at 3,500m you feel the oxygen deprivation.

Cramped cable car and expensive for what you get
Nice to go up to the viewing platform and see the views for the top. Unfortunately it was ruined by the amount of people they cram into each car. Avoid if you’re claustrophobic or struggle with crowds. I feel like the cable car should be enjoyable and part of the experience of going up but it wasn’t, it was a means to an end to get people up and down. I felt it was very expensive for what it was, I won’t be doing it again.

    Alright for a one-time visit
PROS: the views from the top are incredible and I would say worth it for a one-time visit. There is a nice walk at the top and the volcano is cool. The Cafe is reasonably priced. Weather is boiling above the clouds so wear sunscreen! CONS: Crammed way too many people inside the cable car at once. We were lucky and got in last both times so got a good "view" but had to take my hat off as I was so crushed against the glass. Half the fun is the ascent and the views going up/down but if you were sardined in the middle you wouldn't see anything at all. I also do not see how it is justified to charge people that much for the cable car, then charge them again to walk the last tiny bit to the real summit. This just seemed like greed to me and unnecessary to experience something that I think should be included in the whole cost. Besides the cable car, there isn't much to do/see here so if you are here for a long time due to transport times there is not a lot to entertain whilst waiting.

The Must One of the Island
Definitely the place to go while visiting Tenerife Island. A little bit expensive (46€/Pers.) but it value the cost as you will climb to 3 500m. and will have the most spectacular view of the Island. To climb to the Top, you need to register 3/4 months in advance but to be honest you will have similar view at 90% if you stop at the bottom as you only have 300 meters difference. The road itself to come here is lovely and you have many many opportunities to stop and enjoy the Teide National Park. Must See !

First of all, if you have done the Teide by night excursion please be sure the cable car is working before you do the half day Teide with cable car excursion.
Positives
* The coach was very comfortable.
* The guide spoke 5 languages fluently.
* There were 3 toilet stops.
Negatives
* The coach driver was completely disengaged from his passengers. He never spoke to anyone.
* The first stop ( sorry I can’t remember the name of the tatty crowded cafe ) was to crowded. I don’t think this was because it was good food or service; it was because it was a coach stop on route. The person who served us was like a fat version of Basil Faulty. He made our expensive coffee with all the care of a man being sent down for not caring.
There was only one men’s toilet so we were told to use the women’s toilets 😡
* The guide used all her languages apart from Russian. (This is a positive if you don’t speak English)
* The lack of information was because the poor girl repeated everything 4 times. So by the time something else of interest came up we were 10 minutes past it.
* We were informed on the journey that the cable car was not working...(a big disappointment for my wife myself and many others) The cable car was the only reason we went on this excursion. The cost of the cable car ride was refunded at reception, but that was not the point for us.
* The coach’s second stop was opposite a scenic viewing point. We stopped here for an hour.
( Please read my next review entitled “Parque National Del Teide”

So effectively, we spent 6 hours jumping on and off a coach to take photos of things I personally had taken photos of 2 nights before the guide did not gather the group to give any history or information. We were left to meander around until it was time to get back on the coach. We were given the opportunity to drink expensive coffee and eat expensive snacks only then to drive back to our relative hotels.
Personally I felt it was a big waste of time and money.

We booked a half day coach trip which took in some of the island’s sights, including a drive to the cable car station for Teide. When we booked (I can’t recall which agency) the website at the time said cable car tickets could be purchased as an option on the day. As it transpires almost all tickets are sold online in advance. We were fortunate enough to snag the last few on our phones while literally driving up. Another couple on the same coach as us were not so fortunate. The view is great, and well worth the trip, but just be sure you have cable car tickets secured in advance or you’ll be disappointed, as I’m sure many people are.

Me and my partner drove up to Teide National Park as a friend recommended getting the cable car to the top of the Volcano. Beautiful scenery and amazing ride up the mountain (even if me and the partner were tad unprepared for the colder climate up there). You see a side to Tenerife you cant experience sitting on a beach. However I find the price of the cable car was rather pricey. For myself and my partner to have a return trip (with a maximum of 1 hour at the top) was 54€ which to me is a bit too much especially when their website said 13€.

The price did not ruin our day as the place was magical and the ride up and down the volcano was superb! Would deffo recommend if you dont mind the price tag that comes with it.

The views from the top station of the lift make this a must see on a visit. To get to the true peak there is a further stiff climb that was too hard for me, it had plenty of people doing it.
Watch pout for the very cold temperaturs at this height - you need a coat and full trousers. There were a lot of people in full walking / hiking gear.
We hired a car and drove there early, for us this was good as the queue was short and the bus tours hadn't yet arrived.

We booked through Tui as part of an organised tour. Coach drive up to the cable car point was very twisty roads and got quite travel sick. The tickets should be bought in advance and the wait to get on the cable cars was about 20 minuets for us. They run fairly frequently, there is one going up and one coming down simultaneously. The queuing area is not all shaded so it was a very hot wait, take plenty water and sun cream.

You need to wear a mask in the cable car and they are fairly tightly packed. No great for those uncomfortable in tight spaces. Its not dangerously packed, just a bit snug. The time taken to get to the top is about 12 minuets. It does not take you to the summit, this needs to be done of foot and pre booked with permit etc. The view is stunning and the air very fresh. Its about 5 or so degrees cooler at the top but still very warm. You need to stay to the designated paths up there and staff are not happy if you stand off the path to get a better photograph.

We did not spend much time at the top as we had a deadline for the return coach but it would be good to allow time to explore and walk a bit higher up. Can't really comment on the value as we were on holiday and it's a must see, do once kind of affair.

If you don't mind heights and tight spaces it is worth the view. Also, the car swings a bit when passing each pillar and this can be unnerving. The staff are decent enough, they were polite and informative. Safety and professionalism was observed.

I can see mixed reviews for the Teide experience, am happy to say we had a fantastic day which will live forever in our memories, We had a hire car which meant we could forego the coach trip experience. I think that would have taken the edge off for me too. However the flexibility of the self drive option allowed us to visit the visitor centre in Portillo first where an informative short film provides a perfect introduction to the area, The guide there was so friendly and eager to point out all the various options s for the day. We had prebooked the cable car trip for later that afternoon and so had time for a short walk along one of the many well signposted Camino paths which cross cross the whole island, not just the national park. It was magical to walk in such a unique landscape, above the clouds. We booked the tickets from the official Volcano Teide experience - volcanoteide.com. It costs 37 Euro for the round trip and we elected to include the guided tour for an extra 12E - it’s not everyday you go up a volcano and whilst interesting as a stand alone walk, the insight offered by Dario, our guide, brought everything to life. Ours was a mixed party of Spanish and English speakers and he gave explanation in both languages and pointed out things which we would have blindly walked past had we been left to our own devices. He was able to point out the currently erupting volcano on the nearby La palma island. We don’t know when Teide is next due to erupt but I don’t think it’s gonna happen in the next few days. So, if you are the slightest bit nerdy, wondered why geography was so boring at school but now have mid life interest in geology, then this trip is for you

Horrible horrible experience. Cable car stoped midway and returned cause a person from our group didn’t had her mask all the way up. The assistant wasn’t clear about that at all, and had very little knowledge of English. As we stopped almost at the top I never felt so much stress in my life, the assistant wasn’t clear and supportive at all he didn’t tell us the reason why we stopped and didn’t even tried to explain the situation. As we returned to the bottom he said that “we were smiling as he told us to put our masks on” which he was clearly lying about, we were obviously laughing and having a great time cause everyone in the cabin was from our group. All together a bad experience, our day is ruined and there is nothing more to add.

Visiting the grounds of Teide National Park and taking a trip to the upper cable car station was certainly the highlight of my holiday on the island. Booked the tickets for Teleferico online just one day in advance and decided to drive privately to the car park at the bottom of the lower station. The road leading from La Orotava to Teide National Park is full of picturesque lookout points (miradores) so definitely worth stopping for a photo session. The cable car runs smoothly and I was let inside on time. The views from the top are stunning - on a good sunny day one can easily see the neighbouring islands of La Gomera and Gran Canaria in the distance. The tickets for the cable car are a bit expensive but the overall experience is worth paying for. There’s a cafeteria next to the lower cable car station, again with a lovely view of the park and a souvenir shop. It’s probably better to book the tickets for morning hours, as the place gets busier and more crowded in the afternoon- the car park was practically full by the time I was about to leave the place in the early afternoon hours.

Pre-bought tickets to the cable car as part of a ”half-day” trip to teide. We were expecting a nice day enjoying the spectacular sights with maybe a cup of coffee and something to eat at the peak…
We get to the cable car station in the afternoon and the place is filled with tourists. We wait for at least an hour in the queue to get to the cable car. Once we do get in they pack almost 50people to the tiny car! So much for ”social distancing”! 😆 The car is so full you have no space to move. Once we get up we find out the top station packed with people. The queue down worse than up. We quicky took a few pictures and had to go in that queue and still were down 30mins too late… once we get down they have closed the cafeteria! Managed to het a couple of Twix bars from a vending machine.
The place is breathtakingly beautiful but managed so poorly with a) tickets way too expensive and b) too many people taken up with only two cars.

Take a Teide day trip without going to the peak and you will be happy.

Ps. Take into consideration that some people will feel poor in the thin air up the peak.

we had a reservation for go up to TEIDE for today at 5 p.m. with cable car ; this morning at 07.50 a.m. we have received your e-mail that informed as that the cable car was closed for inadequately meteorological conditions for all this day, 26 August.
Subsequently, at 07.54 a.m., we have received your sms that informed as the same information but the closing of the cable car WAS until hours 11 a.m. .
Well, immediately we tried to communicate with you by e-mail to ask some clearer informations because these informations were not clear !!
As of now, 17.22, no answer.
It is unfortunate to see how unprofessional and courteous you have been.
In addition, I would like to give you some feedback: in Italy we have cable cars that are famous all over the world in winter and summer, in all the Alps and beyond. There is no cable car station that does not have a call center and that responds from morning to evening, it is not possible to manage the communications of tourists, especially after having decided to close the cable car, with an email, to which, however, you do not reply.
Bad service! MATTEO BOSSI
