I lived in this neighbourhood for 5 years. It is Amsterdam but geographically it is physically separated from the rest of Amsterdam. Like an exclave of Amsterdam. It is nice to cycle here, very green. More spacious, cheaper to live, and the culture very different to the rest of Amsterdam. Highly populated by Surinamese people of Dutch with Surinamese roots.... It is outside the city centre. The best way to explore it, is by bike as you can see different kind of plants and animals on the field.

south east Amsterdam is separated by the Amstel river area from the next urban zone:Amstelveen. The Amsel river area in dutch "GROEN-GEBIED AMSTEL" offers a touch of countryside between these two Amsterdam suburbs. Central in the are is the village Ouderkerk aan de Amstel 15min by bike west of Amstelveen
