- Donata4 contributionsA captain with no control of his temperWe took a speedboat from Koh Muk to Koh Lipe. Firstly the boat was 15minutes late, which is fine. But then my boyfriend used the toilet on the boat, and accidently opened the door the wrong way which made the screws from the door loose. The captain on this boat started shouting at him in thai, and «you! You! You!» in english- and had an extremely threatening body language. He even came close up to him while shouting. The captains reaction and behaviour is NOT okay. My boyfriend tried to explain to the captain how this happened and apologized. The captain continued shouting, stopped the whole boat and made some of the other boat boys to try and fix the toilet door.. while still shouting and probably swearing in thai..! My boyfriend then tried to contact one of the boat boys, to say that he is sorry again- and the boat boy just ignored him without answering or looking at him. People who lose their temper like that and have that kind of behavior do not fit having the job as a captain or a boat crew. We are not gonna travel with this company again. Never experienced something like this and we have had many boat trips in Thailand during the last year. Choose Bundhaya company instead :)Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 16, 2024

The way back was 20 mins late setting off but only a few of us in the boat and even with the late set off we arrived early. Different boats on each trip.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 3, 2024

Competitive races with competing companies feel immature. Life jackets are available for adults but not for children. No security info. But, works and would definitely go again, but it is of course at your own risk. Competitor I have also been riding with and there is no difference between the companies in my opinion.Visited December 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten December 8, 2024

I would choose another company next time and had much better luck with Andaman on the way to Phi Phi. Satun Pakbara Speedboat Club made customers wait in the scorching sun for over 30 minutes when we were supposed to depart at that time. When I asked when we would board, the employee was very rude and dismissed me. Because of the 45 minute late arrival compared to the advertised arrival time, I missed the required check-in time of my flight and had to buy another ticket for 3,300 baht. Poor customer service and don’t trust their departure or arrival times at all.

There office on Koh Lipe was closed. The only way to communicate was via their website.
I had booked a stay on Koh Lipe months earlier on the basis they had an 8am service ex Koh Lipe. After I arrived on the island I learned that the earliest departures were 9.30am. Their website shows a 9am departure which is incorrect.
You can book a ticket via their website but you will probably travel with one of the other companies eg Bundaya or Bareema.
Please note that this information is probably only applicable to low season.

We took this boat 2x after having a horrible experience with the larger competitor. It is definitely a better experience being on time and having the luggage stored inside (so it doesn't get wet). Prices are the same as the others. Note the boats are horseshoe style seating around the outside (luggage in the middle). A decent way to travel around the islands.

Not sure why there is bad ratings on this. Felt like I should leave a review as it nearly put us off travelling with this company from Koh Lanta to Koh Lipe.
Our hotel organised our boat last night. No need to book online for these things... it’s Thailand (don’t need to book in advance!!).
Picked up from our hotel on time at 9:30 and transferred to the pier. Organisation and communication was fantastic (again I think some people forget we are in Thailand don’t complain when Thai people try their best to speak English for us!).
Once at the pier someone asked where we were heading and we were given a Koh Lipe sticker for ourselves and our bags. We were directed to leave our bags at the front by the boat for them to be loaded in. We then went and sat down on the seats provided. There are clear signs saying 10:15 boarding and also free WiFi at the pier!
More people arrived and then they called ‘Koh Lipe’ which we hopped onto the boat as directed. A smiley Thai man came onto our boat to explain that we would be making a stop at Koh Ngai as they had overbooked the other non-direct boat( ours was direct).
Off we went and stopped at Koh Ngai which took the whole of 5 minutes to unload the passengers on our boat (no bags as cleverly their bags had stayed on the boat stopping at Koh Ngai). No issue and was very smooth we were off again within minutes.
Arrived in Koh Lipe where we walked down a pontoon onto the beach where we waited for our suitcases to be offloaded and kindly carried up the beach for us. Perfect.
Note: go to the toilets before as there didn’t seam to be any onboard (small speed boat).
Would absolutely travel with them again cost us $1350 baht per person.

We were a bit worried about any shipping company after reading reviews on TA. But after many visits (+25) to Thailand we knew one thing for sure: they know how to organize, they get things done and the end it always works out at the agreed price. Understanding the process is a totally different thing so we learned to “go with the flow”. We decide to book via internet with this company because they had best rating. We booked a boat from Phuket to Koh Lipe. Rates were lower than anywhere else and be sure to select the THB option when paying by PayPal. After receiving the tickets I noticed I had made a mistake regarding the date and began to feel a bit worried.
Contacted them by mail, by phone and by WhatsApp and at all instances I was informed not to worry and it would be ok. It took another day but there was my new ticket with corrected date without additional cost. On the day of travel we needed to check in at 8:30 for the 09:00 departure. When I realized the taxi was late because of heavy traffic I did send a WhatsApp to inform them we would arrive at 08:45. When we finally arrived at 08:50 they said they were expecting us, we got a boarding pass and got on the boat. We left on time, made a stop in Koh Lanta (i was unaware but saw it was clearly mentioned on the ticket). In Lanta it became a bit chaotic with people being transferred to different boats and not knowing where our bags were. We decided to let go and “go with the flow”. It was a smooth ride to Koh Lipe and after arrival we had to wait about 10 minutes for the other boat to arrive and found our baggage indeed on that boat.
So a perfect experience, good boats and plenty of life vests (although no one actually wore them). And yes, a 5 hour boat ride can be boring but that we knew in advance. Making a stop in Koh Lanta was actually welcome.
Thank you Satun Pakbara crew for a good experience and for efficient and good communication before the actual trip !
We just booked our next ticket with you !

Having read few rather negative reviews on Satun Pakbara, I thought I might share my view on their service.
We had pre-booked return tickets from Langkawi to Koh Lipe and arrived at Telaga Harbor on the day of departure around at 07:30am. Scheduled departure was at 09:30am so that was perhaps a bit too early. We just wanted to be on the safe side after reading so many reviews saying that process is not quite clear at Telaga.
First, our booking confirmation and passports were collected by the service crew and we were asked to wait until called by name. After 30min, passports together with new tickets were given back to us and we were instructed to go to next window to receive our boarding passes.
And finally, after going through the immigration, we had to give our passports to the ship crew before stepping aboard the boat. Don't worry, you are going to get them back in Koh Lipe.
When arriving at Koh Lipe, all passengers were transferred from the boat to the shore by long-tail boats. We were then asked to take seats at Koh Lipe harbor office. All passenger were called at by name to collect their passports, instructed to go trough the Thailand immigration, pay Koh Lipe natural park entry fee and confirm seats for return journey. After that you are free to go wherever you want. We were picked up by our hotel crew.
When coming back to Langkawi, all basically happened in reverse order. Passports were again collected from us. Again don't worry. We got them back when on board the boat.
Overall, the instructions and communication both at the Telaga Harbor and Koh Lipe could have been better. Nonetheless, all worked out very well in the end. Just listen and do what is being asked. There's a lot of waiting and cuing. But the Lipe is worth waiting for a minute or two. Enjoy Chang beer at the bar by the harbor office while waiting for your documents. The boat itself was quite old but at least we felt rather safe there. Standards are not the same you may have used in your home country. But you probably knew that when decided to travel abroad.

Worst boat experience of our entire lives!!! The boat was going at crazy speed with huge waves, we kept being tossed in all directions for an hour. We were jumping up and down with each wave, and we were sore everywhere. We completely advise against this company, it is unacceptable to allow tourists to travel in these conditions. We chose to take a ferry back and we weren't even able to get a refund for our ticket. Simply shameful.

Absolutely horrendous experience. Would give 0/5 if possible. We travelled from Koh Lanta to Phuket via Phi Phi and the trip was an absolute disgrace. The sea was far too rough for a small speedboat to safely navigate and multiple times passengers were sent airborne due to crashing over the waves. The crew were even scared and took life jackets running to the back of the boat. They even asked the “captain” to slow down.
I’ve never seen a group of people so unanimously terrified. A group of 40ish adults sat in stunned silence praying for a safe arrival. Random strangers were trying to comfort those who were really scared and struggling badly with the situation. This isn’t an exaggeration either, there’s no way the speedboat should have been making this trip but of course they do not care about safety and only profit. The fact they let people out to sea in these conditions disregarding everyone’s safety is inexcusable.
By far the worst travelling experience of my life, avoid at all costs. We ended up getting off the death boat at Phi Phi and were lucky enough the timing was right to get onto a more stable ferry to Phuket. The ferry was also very rough despite being about 20x the size of the speedboat which shows how harsh the conditions were.
Joke of a company and service. Save your money and your life and get a ferry instead.

I used this service Phuket going to Koh lanta. It stopped also at Phi Phi islands. I was very nervous about using them, based on the below reviews, but I honestly think it was fine. It’s a speedboat, so of course it’s going to be a bit rough. I imagine during off season, it will be bad. But it was fine. Everyone on board looked to be ok, even the infant kids were doing ok. One baby fell asleep peacefully. Check in was organised. No issues. Would use them again.

The worst ride of my life
The driver was mad crazy. I almost hit my head several times because he was driving way too fast and the waves were crazy. The boat was jumping up and down really high and could just turn over multiple times
1 hour drive like that and I really feared for my life.
We asked several times to slow down and if it was usually this way and the staff of the boat just laughed.
If you’re a young child or an elderly don’t even try to take this boat.

Hello, I need to arrange a transfer for 8 people from Hat Yai Airport to Koh Lipe. We arrive to Hat Yai airport from BKK on 23rd February 2024 at 12:45 pm. I know it is a bit too late in the day, but we got this flight booked advanced and did not realize that the last ferries leave the pier at 11:30.
Thank you for your help.

Hi, would anybody know if there are boats/ferries plying Koh Lipe to Langkawi this mont? Also, if there are boats from Pakbara Pier to Koh Lipe with 4 or 5pm schedule? Thank you
