Alacati is a beautiful small town set few km inland (around 10 min drive) from the famous Ilica beach in Cesme. Because there's no beach I do not recommend lodging in Alacati, although there're many cute guest houses. I also don't recommend coming here during the day because of the heat and it looks quite ordinary.
However, coming here at night is a must. We went here 3 out of our 4 nights in Cesme (Sheraton Cesme hotel, very good and close to Alacati, read that review).
Old cobbled street, beautiful decorated houses, terrific bars and restaurants make this village gorgeous - it rivals famous Greek islands. It's so nice and live with so many people around. The 19c windmills are cherry on the cake, decorating the town from an elevated position.

Windmills made of stone dating from 1850 have become the symbol of Alaçatı and attract many tourists. The view from the point in the high area on the right before going down to the bazaar is beautiful. They were used to grind wheat on time.

Alacati and Cesme are 2 little towns close to each other. The beaches are beautiful and very shallow. The Cesme marina area with the Cesme castle is a nice place to take a walk and sit by the seaside drinking tea or turkish coffee. Didn't try the restaurants but there were many to chose from.
Alacati old town is a place you must visit. Eat the mussels they sell on carts stuffed with rice, they are delicious. Buy some mastica gum and sweets made from the mastica, good for digestion the gum and the sweets just good to eat with Turkish coffee.
We stayed in Raddison Blu, nice hotel with good service. Its needing some updating but its a great place to stay with families or just a couple. Would recommend it.
All in all these 2 cities are worth the drive from Izmir and next time would skip Izmir and stay here instead. 👍🏻

It is so fun to walk around here and see all the people in this lovely atmosphere! Of course it is the best place to take pictures as the views are amazing.

There are four renovated windmills on a high point of Alacati town. It is worth to take a picture by sunset.

My review is not only for windmills, but for Alaçatı town as well. We really loves the atmosphere of Alaçatı. The shops, the restaurants and the most important is architecture. At the beginning of Alaçatı town the windmills welcomes you. They are amazing. When you walk into the streets, you will admire the buildings, and the doors of the shops and restaurants. We really like the town, most people say that it is really expensive, I am sure you will find places to eat and stay for moderate prices, but not so sure for cheap places :)

Since it is on the top, this park has a view to Alacati and it is also cool there. You can watch sunset, take pictures or have your drink in outdoor cafe out there.

This is situated at the end of the street. on the top of the town. small park is there and good place to take picture from the top. mills wings were not there when we went so not so feeling like wind mill. just look like chimneys. but alacati is small town you can walk around and can see them from anywhere. but going there can have some private time to sit and relax.

How old are they? Why are they there? Who build them? Are they still in use? Some well displayed information is needed. Maybe there is some? Display it better!

Visited this place and found it very laidback. Not very touristy. I enjoyed the stroll there but it may not be worth the effort to go out of the way to visit this place.
