- BellefamilleHorsham, United Kingdom1 contributionA great place to spend time learningI so enjoyed my morning at Made and Making. I took my Mum's old sewing machine. When I arrived, I couldn't switch it on. When I left, I took a cushion cover that I'd made! I even knew how to make a button hole. I felt really confident and Sarah took plenty of time to explain my old Brother machine. I'm definitely going to make more, and also go back to attempt a dress. They were such a lovely friendly bunch - plenty of tea and biscuits - with various projects underway. I felt like I'd like to go every day :-)Visited October 2023Traveled soloWritten October 20, 2023

Thanks also for the refreshments, which were so appreciated 😊Visited October 2023Traveled soloWritten October 31, 2023

- Rubynewman27Lancing, United Kingdom39 contributionsLove it every time.I love Made & Making and get there as often as I can. However when I can't for various personal reasons, there is MID WEEK MAKES twice a year. First in the spring and again before Christmas. MWM consists of a series of crafty projects set up and led by Sarah, the owner, one craft for one hour each week. Different crafts each week and even if you've never done it before, it will be easy enough for you to follow instruction from Sarah. One step at a time. All materials are supplied, you might need a pair of scissors but not much more. It is all done on line, and best bit of all, it's recorded so even if life gets in the way of you doing the live session, you can follow it up the the next day and for as long as you like from the recorded version. Stop and start and if you have a question, that isn't asked already by someone else, Sarah is only a phone call away. Give it whirl in the new year, I understand details are on the website . If you can't get to Hassocks, this is definitely the next best thing.Visited November 2023Traveled soloWritten November 9, 2023
- Angela T2 contributionsBeginners' Crochet - a lovely afternoonSpent a lovely afternoon learning to crochet. It's such a welcoming space with lots of crocheted items to give us all some inspiration. Sarah was a calm and patient teacher and I came away feeling confident that with practice I will be able to make progress. I will definitely look to booking more courses, it was so good to get away from the usual daily distractions for a few hours and learn something new.Visited December 2023Traveled with friendsWritten December 6, 2023

Had a lovely day today at one of the Sew Friendly sessions. Sarah [the owner] was there to help and did so, helping me to get started on my project.
I would highly recommend attending any one of the classes as you will always learn something new and have a relaxing time.

Absolutely amazing. We were given fabric samples and sarah talked us all on zoom through each type of fabric, explaining how they could be used I.e clothing - sports or leisure, dresses. Coats, cushions, upholstery material etc.
All her zoom courses have been executed in such a professional way.
Am so looking forward to being able to attend courses at her studio as have missed not going there, but the zoom classes have helped enormously throughout lockdown.
Thank you so much sarah

I had a wonderful time with Ellie Hipkin at Made and making. It's such a gorgeous space. I had no idea the garden centre is so huge, so if it's your first time ask a member of staff where to go, you'll find it if you go through the restaurant.
I loved the experience, the space is gorgeous, peaceful and the teaching was excellent.

I signed up to midweek makes on a friend’s recommendation and I am passing on that same recommendation to others.
I received my box three-course, with pretty much everything you need contained in cute little bags ready for each weeks online session.
Each week you open a new bag, putting aside the chocolate biscuit!
You participate online, with Sarah leading the group with a step by step demo. Crafts have included iris folding cards, pincushions and gift boxes, all simple and achievable. The session is well guided, allows for individuality and feels sociable too.
The hour whizzes by and is a great escape from home life dramas. Plus you can settle back and admire your achievement with the chocolate biscuit 😁

I attended this all day quilting workshop and as usual had a fantastic time.learned loads from both the tuition and from fellow quilters.
I highly recommend Made and Making for anyone who is interested in quilting sewing knitting or crocheting whether a beginner or expert.
A great environment to lose yourself for a few hours and to come home with new skills and something to 'show and tell'!!!

It's a pity that in these uncertain times, you can't just pop in to Made & Making to have a look round, but the owner Sarah has to keep us all safe, therefore you have to have booked a workshop.
In you have never been to a workshop, look through the long list of offerings and decide what sounds good to you. You cannot be disappointed.
Whether it's Sarah teaching or one of her guest tutors, you will learn a lot, have fun and bring home proof of that.
All the classes I have been to, with others or on my own, I have enjoyed myself immensely.
If you cannot get to the studio, try a taster with one of Sarah's video tutorials, many of which are free. Her premium videos incur a small charge, but you get to keep the video file and can watch it over and over again.

What a delightful experience with the added benefit of excellent tutors who encourage you to be the best you can be. I’ve learnt so much and found a very mindful hobby of patchwork quilting. Made and Making offers a lovely setting to meet like minded individuals who are happy to share their knowledge and experience. I would thoroughly recommend booking on a course as it is such a supportive learning and social experience.

A really relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, but it also felt safe, clean and compliant with dreaded covid rules. The workshop was well structured and organised to perfection, and we all managed to complete a beautiful felted vessel on time. It was just what I needed and a very enjoyable morning.

I did an online Zoom workshop with Sarah making a frame purse this morning. The materials and information was sent out well in advance so I had time to prepare and gather any extra supplies.
The course was really well delivered. It isn't quite as lovely as being in the studio, with all the participants helping each other and chatting, but it was really very close. Sarah did a brilliant job of keeping us together, and helping individuals as they needed it.
I really hope we can get back into the garden studio soon, but if not, I am keen to do another online workshop. It was so nice to have something in my diary!

Hi Sarah, what classes have you got coming up soon for patchwork and quilting. I now have some time and wondered if I could come and learn something new. Not Monday mornings but flexible otherwise. Or I years ago made a cushion with you putting pipping around and a zip wouldn’t mind doing that again if you’re doing it. Thanks Audrey
