I've lived in the area for 5+ years and still haven't visited all the wonderful wineries in this valley. For a day trip from Santiago or ViƱa/Valpo, I recommend scheduling two wineries. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. In between, have lunch at a nice restaurant in the valley. I like to choose one large, more commercial vineyard for one visit, and then a smaller, boutique winery for the second. It makes for a nice balance.

Casablanca Valley is a short drive away from Santiago. It offers some spectacular views of the valley with several vineyards. It was awesome to visit one of the vineyards and learn about the same and the valley. Certainly would very highly recommend visiting Casablanca Valley to any tourist.

I have been to the casablanca valley which is rather like Napa close to the sea and produces great Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.

the wineries to visit are;

Veramonte

Emiliana

Indomita

ViƱamar

William Cole

Casas Del Bosque

Catrala

Then you have the Antonio Valley close by which are;

Matetic

Casa Marin

Good gourmet restaurants in the valley are Morande, Indomita, Tanino, San Marco, Todo Caballo and El Macerado. For a quick and cheap snack there is always Bariloche sandwich bar just of rut 68.

You need a car to get to the vineyard most of them are just off rut 68. If you intend to do lot of stops make sure you get a driver to drive you around so as to enjoy the wine.

If we weren't so terrified of this very strange man (the owner) we would have gone to the police. He spied on us in our room. He repeated private conversations back to us that we had quietly in our bedroom, and kept "appearing" from behind the cabin when we thought we were alone. He was a very shady character who acted creepy and aggressive from the first minute we met him upon arrival. He tried to rip us off by charging us for two rooms, then when we politely showed him our booking confirmation saying we only booked one, he abused us and told us to "get off my property". We ended up feeling terrified and fleeing. A horrible experience that really spoilt our experience of Chile.

We wanted to go from Santiago to Valparaiso and visit Casablanca Valley on the way. The easiest way to do this ended up being taking the bus from Stgo-Valpo (4500clp and 90min by bus) and then we dropped off all our stuff in the hostel in Valpo and took a "colectivo" to casablanca valley. A colectivo is a yellow taxi that goes to a specific city and it will take on people until it's full and then go. We paid 1500clp per person and it's an hours drive - bargain! They leave from near the bus terminal.
However, once in Casablanca which is a small village, we couldn't find anywhere to rent bikes, so the taxi driver offered to drive us from vineyard to vineyard for 10.000 clp per hour. As we were 3 ppl this didnt seem to bad - around 3 pounds per person per hour.
He took us to one he recommended called Casas del bosque and it indeed turned out to be a great experience!! The tour was in English and the guide was very thorough with the entire tour and ready to answer any questions. He was fun and tried to engage everyone.

The tasting itself was amazing, we all got seated by a big dinner table and tried 4 different wines - 2 white and 2 red. Everything about the wines were explained along with teaching us the right techniques of holding, smelling, drinking and opening a wine.

The tour was 15.000clp. We ended up only visiting Casas del bosque as the tour was really good and almost 2hrs long.

heading towards Valparaiso/Vina del Mar on the 68, immediately after the second toll plaza, look for the private freeway exit of Emiliana Vineyards.

It's luscious grounds, informative wine tours and tastings and sound organic and biodynamic principles makes this a must stopover.

Plus, the wine is dirt cheap and great quality!

about 7 or 8Km long, both sides of carretera Santiago-ValparaĆso, about 1 hour, by car, from central Santiago. various winemakers are there. some need to book beforehand, others may let you in even without a prior schedule. Sauvignon Blanc ist the mais grape, but some Chadonnay are present too. Excellent Sauvignon, not that much Chardonnay. Wine lover may contract some guided tour departing from Santiago and go back same day. Some of the winemakers offer a tour, with tasting, and even gourmet lunch.

I love the Casablanca Valley! I've visited the Casas del Bosque and the Emiliana vineyards. Casas del Bosque is easier to get to than Emiliana and the lunch there was delightful. Besides lunch, we took a tour and did a tasting. Their Syrah (Gran Reserva 2011 I believe) was incredible and I think even won best red wine in Chile. The Sauvignon Blanc was also incredible - I want to make perfume out of it it smells that delicious! The food was also phenomenal and the service, exceptional.

Emiliana (not to be confused with Santa Emiliana) is a little tricky to get to, but totally worth the effort. That was one of the most unique experiences I had in Chile. They are an organic and biodynamic vineyard with a social commitment as well. Beyond just their unorthodox cultivation techniques (which was fascinating to learn about), we got to have a picnic on their grounds. They set everything up and the real thing was even prettier than the beautiful photos online. The spread was to die for, especially the bread! It was a beautiful afternoon and the staff was delightful and helpful. We picked up a bottle of Coyam in their wine shop that I highly recommend! If you've done the vineyard thing before, I think Emiliana would be a unique, new experience.

We did the Uncorked wine tour to the Casablanca and San Antonio valleys and loved it. We agree with the others that the organic vineyard, Emiliana, is worth a visit. However, we would like to clarify that it is a great property with awesome principals, but one of the worst tours you'll receive. They conduct tours constantly and of large groups, so don't expect to have lots of questions answered or anything more than a general overview to their practices. It ends with a tasting, which is great (the Coyam is superb). We wished we had liked the tour more, because we loved everything else about Emiliana.

Loma Larga is a great winery to visit. It's more boutique, with a wonderful, personalized tour and tasting. Morande is a great stop for lunch or just to purchase their awesome wines for super cheap!

On our way to Santiago from ViƱa del Mar, we drove through the Casablanca Valley. The sage & arid mountains contrast with the greenery of the valley and ordered rows of the winery. A great drive for the views, the stop at the Casa del Bosque Estate was the highlight. Fantastic attention to detail in every aspect - down to staining the middle stave of their aging barrels for the aesthetics. Excellent guide with clear explanations, in depth knowledge and no attitude to grate against our casual approach to wine. Another couple on the tour from Australia were very well informed on wine and enjoyed it even more. Beautiful, informative and entertaining!
