About
In the early 1900s, mining engineer Carl John "CJ" Kingston left his home in Michigan looking for gold in Chile. Generations later, his descendants are showing the same pioneering spirit in exploring new frontiers in Chilean winemaking. Growing red wine grapes in a valley known for whites, Kingston Family Vineyards has been hailed as Winery of the Year by Wine & Spirits Magazine.

- Todd R2 contributionsTasting and cooking class too!Excellent tasting experience amongst knowledgable, bilingual staff. We tried a cooking class and found it amazing! Every course of the meal was delicious, even though we were personally part of the process... Kudos to Patricia our chef, to Carolina our host and to Michael Kingston himself who was taking time to visit with us and other guests during our visit. We are pinot noir fans, so therefore enthusiastic about their wine options. The views are worth it on their own, but we recommend the cooking class if you have a half-day to fill. We're so glad to hear you enjoyed your cooking class and afternoon with us, Todd. And that your time in our kitchen and salon with Paty, Carolina and my father Michael was a memorable one! We made a reservation for lunch driving from Santiago to the coast. It was one of the highlights of our trip to the beautiful country of Chile! - Damon BBoston, Massachusetts9 contributionsTwo delicious and beautiful hours in the Casablanca Valley. My partner and I visited Casablanca before heading to Patagonia. We had enjoyed Kingston Vineyard wines state side and were pleased to find out we could visit when in Chile. We had no idea what a delightful experience awaited us! I have gone to the Napa valley a number of times since my family is in the Bay Area. I have visited many CA vineyards and enjoyed a number of curated experiences. At Kingston we did the wine paired 5 course lunch. We knew the wine would be great but the food was incredible. Also the whole pairing process and the thoughtful/informed presentation of our server was a true pleasure. Sitting there overlooking the rolling hills of the vineyard while eating, the comparisons to Napa were irresistible. We visited other wineries in the valley (like Casas del Bosque near Kingston) which were all enjoyable in their own way but found our visit at Kingston to be the most elegant and intimate. Thank you Kingston Vineyards!Damon, how fun that you were already familiar with Kingston wines before your trip to Chile! As a family owned winery we strive to create an intimate and personalized experience so we are so glad to hear you enjoyed your time with us. It's not the first time we have heard the connection to Napa Valley, we are just as obsessed with our view. Thank you for your kind review, we hope you have a fantastic and memorable time in Patagonia!Written February 21, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 17, 2024
- Rob W12 contributionsWorld class experience at Kingston!A visit to the hills of the Casablanca valley and to the house of Kingston was the highlight of a packed visit to Santiago and the region. I did the wine pairing dining experience. Spectacular service and superb culinary skills displayed by Chef Alejandro and his team. The pairings were wonderful to highlight the Sauv blanc, chardonnay, pinot, and Syrah rose. Having experienced similar afternoons in regions in Australia, France, Veneto, Tuscany, Napa, and others, Kingston makes clear that Chile and its Casablanca valley (among others) are world class. The experience at Kingston was so relaxing, featuring beautiful views from the hill, and I left satisfied and with several take-home bottles.Rob, it is so great to hear that you had a memorable experience here at Kingston and that our team treated you with the utmost hospitality. We think its about time that Chile received the same recognition as other world-class wine regions and we are so glad you agree. Thank you for sharing your experience and we hope you enjoy your wine!Written April 25, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited April 2024Traveled soloWritten April 18, 2024

This is a must-do experience in Casablanca! From the tour to the tasting to the food, everything is excellent. Our guide and sommelier Jose did a wonderful job teaching us about Kingston Family Vineyards, the history of wine in the Casablanca Valley, and explaining the process that makes their wine stand out from others. The entire staff was welcoming, went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and having fun, and the living room view and ambiance was perfect.

Hi Emily, thank you for visiting us in May. We're so glad you felt welcomed. Our only marketing is word-of-mouth from guests like you who enjoyed their experience -- thank you for sharing yours. Our Chilean-American family has been farming in the Casablanca Valley for one hundred years, and we hope to do a repeat -- this time with world-class wines and food. Thanks again for your kind words.

This was hands down one of the most amazing things I did when visiting Valparaiso! The wine was easily the most delicious and of higher quality than any other local vineyards. The views from the winery are absolutely stunning. The entire staff was so helpful when I was coordinating my visit, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff on property! When touring the property the main bodega manager came out of his office just to introduce himself and ask if I had any additional questions which I thought was so thoughtful. My main tour and tasting guide's name was Mario and he was INCREDIBLE! He was so knowledgeable about Kingston and then entire Casablanca Valley. He went above and beyond to make sure my experience at Kingston was amazing, but he also even then helped me coordinate tours to other vineyards for the rest of the day.

My wife, daughter, and I stopped here for a wine tasting. Our guide Marcello gave us a glass of 2019 Rosillo Rosé Syrah and then took us on a tour of the winery and talked about Kingston’s artisan winemaking and sustainable viticulture. We got to do barrel tasting, which I find educational to compare against “finished” wines (in the bottle). At the end of the tour, we were served lunch prepared by the Winery’s chef. Each course was paired with one of Kingston’s wines. The pairing was very good. I liked a majority of the 6 wines we tasted: the Rosé Syrah, the 2017 Sabino Chardonnay, the 2018 Alazan Pinot Noir, and the 2017 CJ’s Barrel Syrah. It’s worth noting that Kingston was the only winery we visited that would ship back to the USA.

Let's start off by saying that Kingston Family Vineyards has breaktaking views! It is absolutely worth seeing. The architecture is also notable and the service is quality. For those of you who only speak English, that is not a problem here.
We did a lunch with wine pairings, which I was very excited about. The wines are good...nothing to write home about unfortunately, but that is obviously very subjective. The food, however, was a bit disappointing. I opted for the ceviche, the octopus and the steak. The ceviche was the best thing I tasted all day! The octopus was extremely chewy to the point that I left more than half of it on the plate. And the steak also didn't seem like the best cut of meat either- lots of fat and was marinated in something sweet. I was open to the unique flavor but the texture threw me off.
The part that blew my mind at the end was the tab- 94,000 pesos ($122 USD)! I would expect those prices in Napa, but not here! It was substantially more expensive than any of the other vineyards in the region.
My suggestion: definitely swing by but order a cheese board or snacks instead of the 4 course lunch and order your wine by the glass (ask for a tasting to make sure you like the wine first).

The Kingston Family Vineyards tour, four course gourmet lunch and wine tasting was one of the most enjoyable we have ever experienced. The setting is stunning, modern and elegant. The hosts including Mario spent quality time with us to share the history of the winery, vineyard and valley, along with the nuances of their amazing selection of wines. Totally recommend for travelers visiting Santiago, only an hour away.

Unfortunately haven't had the opportunity to do an in-person visit, but Kingston hosted a virtual taste testing over zoom. Incredibly friendly staff that walked us through the history of the vineyard and organization, background of the wines that were shipped, and answered our questions about life in Chile and the winemaking process.
Covid has screwed up travel plans but this is still a great opportunity to still virtually travel and try something new. I'm trying to convince my boss to order our team a case and do a virtual taste testing for team-building. Wish me luck.

Whether you like wine or not you have to check out the Kingston family Vineyard while in Chile. I visited as part of a tour with my university and from start to finish the experience was fantastic!
We were greeted with rose wine to start and given time to take in the breathtaking views of the vineyard. After a few moments we made our way inside the brand new tasting room. The tasting room is spacious and overs and amazing ambience with both indoor and outdoor seating.
The food and wine pairings were delicious with a special shout out to the late harvest wine! After a delicious meal and tasting menu, we heard from the wine maker and owner. This is where I was really able to connect with the brand. The two were candid and shared the history of the vineyard. It connected with me on an emotion level and It allowed to form a deeper connection with the vineyard.
From there we did a quick tour and sampled a delicious Pinot noir!
If you are visiting Chile I highly recommend coordinating a visit out to Kingston Family Vineyard! You won’t regret it.

What is the cost of a wine tasting without the tour?
Is it possible to order wine by the glass at Kingston Vineyard?
Written November 27, 2018
Hi Lizzie,
You may elect to just do a tasting without a tour. The cost of a classic tasting is 20.000 CLP per person and a premium tasting is 26.000 CLP per person.
Currently, we do not currently offer wines by the glass. But we do welcome you to buy a bottle to drink on our terrace overlooking the Casablanca valley!

My partner and I are visiting the casablanca area and were wondering if just the two of us could show up for the wine tour?
Written January 29, 2016
Thank you for asking and thanks to everyone who responded! We do prefer if you email or call us in advance to schedule a tour as we're a small winery and small team. To ensure you're not waiting for a tour and that we can give you the best service possible, we kindly ask that you please schedule. We hope to see you soon!
