There was the Meiji Restoration now on a day 150 years ago. This is the school which leader Shouin Yoshida (Japanese call him Yoshida Shouin Sensei ) opened. Shouin Yoshida died at the age of 28 years old. But he borought up many political leaders and economic ,leaders. The modern Japanese birthplace.

"Shokasonjuku Academy" is one of the most popular historical spot in Japan.
The mentor Shoin Yoshida motivated many talented students for the Meiji Restoration (1867), event though the period he taught was only one and half years and he was executed in 1859.

You can see small wooden house which was used as academy by outside for free.
Also, you can see his family's house existing next to the academy. There is a tiny room which was used prison room of Shoin.
These houses show us that Shoin was not so wealthy.
I was surprised because Shokasonjuku Academy is very famous for producing revolution but the house was very small and the period he taught was very short.

The academy has got the status of UNESCO World Heritage in 2015. If you are interest in Japanese history, it's must see.

This was really neat to walk through. The signs have English so you can read what each building was used for.

This private school (Shōka Sonjuku), which was established in the 1840s, turned out many heroes who led the Meiji Restoration to a success. You can see the outside and the inside of the wooden house, where although it was only for one year, they eagerly learnt many things with their teacher, Yoshida Shōin, together.

In the same property with Shouin-Temple, there is a wooden residence and academy of the mentor "Shouin Yoshida". You will be shocked to see the size of the academy. So tiny! But there, Shouin studied and discussed futures of Japan with many of his followers (students) who became reformers of Modern Japan.

Another of the Meji Restoration heroes. After being accused of sedition, etc., he was confined to house arrest (on his own undertaking not to leave). He lived and taught in this very small 2 roomed building and was only able to leave the building to use the bathroom adjacent - incredible to imagine how he coped with dignity before his eventual execution
