市の指定史跡となっている旨が「野山獄跡」の説明板に記されていました。当時の獄の一部が跡地として整備されているようで、幾つかの石碑が並んでいました。猶、遺構等は残っていない為、当時を偲ぶ程のものはありませんでした。

野山獄は士分を、岩倉獄は庶民を収容しました。今は慰霊碑と説明書かしか有りません。野山獄は割と自由なので、吉田松陰は他の囚人たちに講義を行ったそうです。

野山獄は、上牢として、士分の者を収容しました。吉田松陰は、海外渡航に失敗した後に、この野山獄に投じられました。今は何も残っていませんが、松陰先生がおられた場所だと思うと、悲しい気持ちになりました。

海外渡航に失敗した吉田松陰が、ここの牢獄に入れられていたとのことですが、今は記念碑が建っている位でめぼしい施設はありませんでした。時間の限られた旅行であれば、萩市内散策の際に近くを通れば立ち寄る程度で考えておけば良いと思います。

明倫小学校から北へ向かい、少し路地を入った場所にあります。野山獄跡と岩倉獄跡はこの路地を挟んで向かい側にあります。野山獄は武士階級の罪人、庶民階級は岩倉獄に収容されました。残念ながら獄舎などは残っておらず石碑が立つのみですが、投獄されながらもここでも勉学を怠らず、また、教育にも務めた吉田松陰を偲ぶ場所です。

松蔭所縁の地です。碑が残されているのみですが、往時をしのばれます。但し、近くに駐車場が無いので、車で行くときには注意が必要です。

大河ドラマでみて気になっていました。寒い日だったので, タクシーで訪れました。運転手さんに, 車内から野山獄跡・岩倉獄跡の説明をしてもらいました。形は残っていませんが, ドラマを思い出し, 往時を偲びました。

常念寺に行く途中にありました。吉田松陰が海外渡航に失敗し、江戸から追い返され、ここの獄に入れられていたとか。近所の方が教えてくれました。この獄以外にこの近辺も獄があったとのことです。

松陰が投獄された獄跡。狭い路地の先にあり非常に分りにくいです。公民館と書かれたプレハブハウスが目印。石碑などありますが、往時を偲ぶものはなく、位置関係しかつかめません。

因為傻傻的從東萩下車，要走去萩城，
路上就路過了這裡，只剩下幾塊碑，
如果不看碑文根本也沒注意到這裡跟松陰有關，
本來只以為是個小公園，但是看擺設又不像，
真是到處都是幕末的遺跡啊。
