This shrine dedicated to Kenshin Uesugi is built on the spot of the former castle. A nice statue of Uesugi Kenshin the founder of that powerful samurai dynasty. A nice shrine and a museum of family treasures (I didn’t have time to enter museums). This is part of a large park area with shrines, statues, tablets and another museum across... More

When I visited there, there were no many tourists, but had a lot of snow. I enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. There is a museum close to this shrine, but I have no enough time to visit it.I would like to go this place again.

Was able to take picture with a nice family with their kids for the Shichi-go-san celebration. Good place for people who are fond of history and culture. Also got a near small shopping mart for... There is a lot you can see here and I'm sure I didn't see it all. Firstly there is a large bridge going over a pond with Koi fish you can bring bread to feed (as well as all the pigeons and sparrows that follow you). I believe a Samurai Museum is also on the grounds but I did not... More

this is a local shrine and as usual there is always something interesting - recommend to speak to the old guards on the grounds who can tell you about the differences
