there are 4 types of trains..the normal one, the strawberry, the toy and of course..the famed tama train. we did the tama and toy train(the strawberry train was not in service that day). the deco inside the tama train was pretty cute. the toy Train wasn't impressive. Nitama Chan is located in Kishi station and is always kept behind a... More

Travelling back and forth from Wakayama to Kishi, you can either travel with the Tama Cat Train or the Strawberry Train. You will reach Kishi, the final stop, where there is the Tama Cat Museum and Cafe. Highly recommended to cat lovers!

If you know about the Kishigawa line, chances are you probably want to go to the terminus station of the line i.e. Kishi Station, where the Tama Museum is. The Kishigawa line is accessible from JR Wakayama (platform 9 but don't worry, just look for the paw prints and cartoons of Tama). Staff there are also very helpful and will... More

It took us about 2 hours to get from Osaka Namba to Kishigawa Station. There are four trains - Tama theme, strawberry theme, toy theme and a new dog theme. Except for the dog theme, the rest have lovely interiors. The Tama theme train is really one of a kind, a novelty! Bookshelves filled with comics, toys in display shelves,... More

I read about this place years ago in an anime magazine, and always wanted to visit if I ever made it to Japan. Sadly, a month before we visited, Tama-chan crossed the Rainbow Bridge, so just Ni-Tama was there. We had our entire trip planned around us being at the station when Tama was there, so when I found out... More

The Wakayama Electric Railway is the way to get to Kishi, the home of Tama, the famous Stationmaster cat. Over the last decade Tama has brought several million dollars to the area and probably saved the railroad from abandonment. There are Tama souvenirs at two stations Tama has spawned a large toy, book, etc. industry. Several trains are decorated inside... More

What others didn't tell you was that the damn cat do go on vacation and has a schedule more relaxed than the Queen of England. We were there the first time at exactly 5pm, which was the last train out of Kishi Station. Tama wasn't in her cage, so we thought we came a little too late and that she... More

The Kishigawa Electric Rail has a number of themed trains; the toy train, the ichigo train, and the Tama-chan train. The latter is dedicated to Tama, the station master who resides at Kishi station. Oh, did I mention that Tama is a cat? Only in Japan!
