Recommended to drop by when you are in the area. Its stupendous and surrounded by green rice fields, making it stand out. Kumano Hongu Taisha is close by as well. There are shops close by for a drink or snack

Yes it’s a big structure and clearly of significance to many people. It’s surrounded by rice paddies but it also marks the beginning of a pretty sacred garden.

It is just next to Kumano Hongu Taisha. Simply go to take a look and it is surrounded by paddy fields. It has a nice view.

Not bad, but the gian Torii is pretty much it, not a lot else to see. Good to kill some time and have a walk by the river, not much else.

It took a bit of work to find the entrance, although the arch itself is visible for miles around. The walk through rice paddies is lovely but once there, there is not much to see.

This Otorii is the world's largest and marks the entrance to the original Hongu Taisha shrine. It was moved to its present location after a destructive flood (it's at the confluence of two rivers). Walk out to the Otorii (look for the yatagarasu) and keep...More

You can see this huge Torii shrine from the road but we had a walk under and around the shrine. There are nice gardens adjacent to the shrine and paddy fields on the other side.

It's huge and it leads to a nice park, but there's nothing particularly amazing about it. I would leave it until the end of your visit in the area and then if you have time walk to see it and maybe enjoy a snack in...More
