Getting here and back into town wasn't so easy, but we got there with the help of a restaurant employee, who talked to various minivan drivers offering "taxi" service to the other side of Sakaiminato. we walked the bridge one way, through the wind and rain. There is a sidewalk on each side. It was approaching dark, and with the inclement weather, not the best, but still interesting. The wait for the expected bus on the other side was too long, but it did stop raining, so not the worst. the bus itself was charming, with characters from Mizuki Shigeru .

if you want to see a crazy bridge, you should look from Shimane(Matsue side), because the bridge is curves in Tottori(Sakaiminato) side.

Traveling over the bridge several times we did not find it was really steep nor scary. It is impressive engineering, and an incline was present but certainly not overwhelming to make it one of the ten scariest bridges in the world.
Disappointed.

It didn't look anything like the photo on a leaflet. I want to know where the photo was taken & what kind of lens was used. Not photoshopped, was it?

OK, it is great bridge and as we visited great Yushien Garden, we also drove over it, altogether four times.
But most photoes lie, it really is not frightening and much more demanding hills you meet easily when driving some alpine roads.
Not worth driving many miles for it - but if in Matsue-Yushien area, visit it.

We found some exciting picture about this bridge so decided to explore during our Matsue visit. But in reality it was not so interesting. Although one side of the bridge was steep but not too much. But the drive from Matsue to the bridge was fine.

Purposely drove twice on this bridge but it don’t look at steep as some of the picture or video show. However i am pretty sure jogging up the long steep slope is a good challenge.

But not like the pictures or at least mine did not turn out like the real scary ones . Overall it's worth visiting for a picture but don't get too excited.

We took a taxi from the Yuushien Garden to the cruise ship terminal and the taxi driver took us across this bridge. On the approach, you see a steep, hilly ascend that looks like you should be driving a 4-wheel drive jeep to reach the top and we all wondered if the compact Japanese car carrying 5 people (4 passengers and 1 driver) was going to have enough horse-power to get us up there. I have not seen a bridge with an ascent like this one so if it's on your route to your destination, go on it...

From side on it doesn't look so imposing. When you are going up or down it doesn't feel that bad. But when you are at the bottom looking up, it is mind-bogglingly steep. Special provisions are made in its surface to overcome the snow and ice of winter.

You ll probably have to buy yourselve a ticket to Japan, then rent a car (and drive on the right side). But before that think twice.. you'll be able to find a lot more beautiful places on earth to enjoy
Have a nice trip
