この桑田醤油醸造所は、周りの白壁の土蔵ではなく、京風の町家のつくりなんです。同じ通りにある元帥酒造も白壁の土蔵造りではないので、この通りは、とても落ち着いた雰囲気が感じられました。
赤瓦６号館でもある桑田醤油醸造所は、明治１０年創業の老舗の醤油屋さんなんだそうです。醤油はもちろんですが、醤油を使っているアイスクリームやマカロンなどもありました。

倉吉は、「赤瓦」１４の蔵巡りを楽しむ町です。その中の６号館に当たります。外観だけでも見る価値があります。団体ツァーの慌ただしい中で、この醤油アイスは一度食べたくて寄ってみました。ほのかに醤油の味がしました。

「京風の」という形容詞が付く明治期の商家だ。入店すると、目につくのが木の樽。老舗と言われる醤油店でも木の樽を目撃する例は少ないだけに貴重な光景だ。いまだにビンを持ってきた顧客にはこの木の樽から量り売りするという。醤油そのものだけでなく、醤油味のアイスクリームやようかん、あめなども売ってあった。

団体ツアーで街並み見学中に立ち寄りました。醤油アイスと醤油を購入して、醤油アイスは想像通りの味でした。醤油は帰ってから美味しくいただきました。

倉吉の白壁土蔵の街並みを歩いていると，醤油アイスクリームの幟に興味を持ちました。赤瓦６号館はいまでも桑田醤油醸造場が営業しています。醤油アイスクリームのほか，ポン酢アイスクリームもあります。どちらも３８０円ですが，まずは，醤油アイスでしょう。ほのかに香ばしい味はしますが，言われなければ醤油だとは分からないでしょう。ナッツ入りのアイスクリームのような味です。店内には小さなテーブルもあります。本業の醤油の味見もできるようです。その他，歴史的な展示物もあり，観光ガイドツアーも立ち寄るようです。

りんりんやで無料のコーヒーをいただいた後八橋往来を赤瓦・白壁土蔵の前を通って行きました。
桑田醤油醸造場はランチを土蔵蕎麦で食べた通りの角にありました。
京風建設の建物で保護文化財だそうです。
醤油アイスが自慢だそうです。

明治10年創業の老舗醤油屋さん。
縦格子が京風の商家造りの店内では昔ながらの製法で作られた醤油を初め、醤油味のあめや羊羹、アイスクリームなどを販売しています。
醤油羊羹を土産に購入したところ家人に大変喜ばれました。
店の裏手の土蔵造りの工場で、樽を使って仕込んでおり、器を持って行けば樽から直接注いで販売もしている赤瓦六号館です。

倉吉の白壁土蔵が残る町並みを散策しました。その一角にあったのが、桑田醤油醸造所です。
建物は、白壁土蔵ではなく、古くて素敵な京都風なんです。大工を京都で修行させて作った建物なんだとか。

明治１０年に建てられた醤油醸造所です。町屋の建物は情緒があり、素敵な佇まいです。醤油も淡口、濃口、再仕込みと３種類があります。醤油アイスクリームや醤油羊羹など醤油を使った商品も販売しています。
