About
Tourism Center Izumo is the closest facility to Izumo Taisha worship. A space where a magnificent thousand trees towering on the roof of the Izumo Taisha Shrine shines on the green Yakumoyama. This tourist shopping center is rich in Izumo's typical folk art, fine confectionery, special products and other souvenirs, and is adjacent to the bus terminal where the local bus and the Izumo Airport connection bus stop.

Great place to eat and buy souvenirs. Variety of things are available. And even group of people can have a meal together.

This is a large souvenir shop with a large sales area. ``Inaba no Hakuto'' and ``White Rabbit Financier'' are said to be popular.
The lineup is extensive, including freshwater clams from Lake Shinji, Izumo soba, pickles, and folk crafts. It was a holiday so it was busy.

The information office at JR Izumo station offered no English
and very limited ability to provide any tourist information in
Japanese. They were unable to provide the location of the
town centre.
The large map outside the station proclaimed " Tourist Information" in English, but there the assistance stopped
with everything on the map in Kanji.
I wonder how many overseas tourists Izumo attracts. I did
not see a single foreigner during our two day visit. Some
school children at the station said Hello and then waved
their hands which seemed to indicate that they also rarely
saw a foreign face.
