Visiting this old station feels like going back in time. You can still see the schedules, mannequins wearing the original uniform, the railtracks and the train. The best part is it is free and near the other tourist spots.

Who doesn’t love looking at old buildings, trying to understand and reminiscing the old days. The traditional design of japanese building can be seen and I was super excited when I saw it. It is very near to the Izumo Shrine (as it was a former stop to the shrine itself) and even the little shops that we passed through (the road that connects it to the shrine) was engaging tbh.

The current station is convenient all right, but it has zero charm. The old station - perhaps 15 minutes away on foot is quite an impressive structure. The inside houses a ticket office still, and there are a few old carriages, but it's not very well maintained. Anyway, if you have an hour before your train leaves after doing the shrine and shopping street, this is the third most interesting thing we did. And it's free.

This is a charming station. Such a shame they closed it. It matched Izumo far more than the current one. The station building itself is well kept and stunning. Wood smell good.
Surprised there’s no souvenir shop here. Perhaps becoz not much visitors.

This is an old train station architecture which is already closed.
Before, there were so many visitors going to Izumo Taisha by train, but now, most visitors are coming by car or bus. So, the railway was closed in 1990.

However, the building of the station is still remained and you can see the beautiful old architecture for free.
Also, you can enter inside of the station. There are many old facilities displayed. And more, there is old steam locomotive.

I think it's a pity that this station was closed. But, the architecture is still very beautiful. You can see retrospective Japanese scenery here.

Before visiting Izumo Taisha, we stopped by this old station- The Former Taisha Station.
A popular tourist destination. Inside the station are historical photos, timetable schedules, mannequins wearing uniforms, ticket machines and old equipments. A steam locomotive stands outside.

This is an old train station, seemingly a wooden structure and very beautiful. Now it is not functioning any more, and that’s why we have the privilege to walk on the railroad track and get inside an old train to take photos in whatever way we want. Very special experience!

Imperial family was traveling to this station decades ago.
It's not for commercial usage anymore.

But, several items are displayed.
The station building itself looks great.
Steam locomotive, D51.
Guest room, ticket counter, platform and the rail track.

So, you can be reminded of the colourful days here.

Good experience.
