Both sides of the roadway was planted with high metasequoia tree (red wood). The trees were of 35 meter high creating a symmetrical landscape around the area. It was very impressive during autumn when the leaves turned to brown and reddish color. Many tourists came here to take photos around.

We hired a couple of bikes at the hotel and rode to have a look. The trees had just started to get their autumn colours so we were just a little early to see them at their best. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

Very beautiful, feels like you are not in Japan. come on weekdays, when it is not crowded.
I think normally this place is full of people, because of the corona situation, not many people around and that was a big plus.

Only if you like nature and quiet places, then you should come here. It’s a scenic place, but don’t expect anything else. It will probably take you half and hour or so to take some pictures. It’s a long drive from Kyoto or Otsu town. There is a small shop here for you to rest and have some coffee after enjoying the scenery. Come during autumn when the weather is cool and nice.

Super beautiful to see, but not a lot other than a looooong road lined with sequoia trees in perfect alignment.

Hello all, I will be coming to this place during the Fall period. Wondering if anyone can kindly help advise how to get to the place from the Makino station? I did found some information, stating to take bus (but it is somewhat unclear to me, eg. where do I take it etc) and I would like to have more info since it will be my first solo trip.
Appreciate in advance for any replies!
