Ōmihachiman(近江八幡) is a town about 1 hour away from Kyoto by JR. the town is famous for its water cannel, old ways of transporting goods back and forth. The views from the cablecar are worth the trip to the summit, so if you visit Omihachiman and the weather is wonderful take the return trip and enjoy the view.
