I am always pass it after i am done shoped in Ibaraki market. Quiet place near big street. In new year, they hold nice festivals. I found several delicious food there for 500 yen each.

In 2013 we visited this beautiful Shrine with our daughter & two young grandchildren. The atmosphere was tranquil , with just the cooing of Pigeons & Doves in the beautiful Trees surrounding the Shrine Complex. The Buildings & grounds are all very well maintained , & it is so wonderful sometimes to visit one of these Shrines that is not full of foreign Tourists, it gives you a better sense of it's history & connection with it's surrounding local community .

I feel a bit odd about rating a shrine but after spending 3 weeks in Japan seeing a couple of shrines per day I guess you get a ranking system going. This one is nice and is worth seeing if you are in Ibaraki and happen to be going past the place. If you're going to start comparing it with some of the super-shrines of Kyoto and the likes then of course it can't compete. On the other hand at least it isn't mobbed like some of the mega-shrines.
