Small aquarium which cost $3000 yen for both of us, it was weird starting with aquarium then randomly ending with lemars still a good walk around to get out of the cold.

Our friends brought us here and it was an interesting experience.

Somewhat an aquarium with a mini zoo inside Expocity, this interactive aquazoo is a wonderful place to visit.

Open from 10am to 8pm daily, there are various zones you can discover the wonders of nature.

At the ‘mimic’ zone, look out for the creatures which blend themselves in the environment for protection and to avoid being noticed. We had great fun trying to spot the glass frogs.

There is a barrier-free area where you get to walk in an area where the animals are free to roam and you get to enjoy their natural behaviour. Do look out for the lemurs who love to hang out above the ceiling planks and see if you can spot them. Hint:- look out for their tails. :)

At the ‘abilities’ zone, there are anglers which can spout water though we didn’t see them in action when we were there. Check out the spotted garden eels which love to bury themselves in the sand and many other interesting creatures.

There was also a white tiger in action looking for its food.

Overall a very interesting visit. Highly recommended.

Service dogs for those with disabilities are allowed.

Nice far to visit from Osaka center to watch small and colorful fish. Also you can watch white tiger.
2,000 JPY for entrance is seemed a bit of expensive but it’s worth of.

大阪中心部から程よい距離。小さいカラフルな魚を見れます。ホワイトタイガーも。
入館料が2,000円は一見高そうですがその価値はあり。

That's the only description I think is most suitable for this zoo. You visit this place, because you want to view the animals in a most sterile and classy way possible, observing them as a scientist would, devoid of its natural or at least pseduo natural habitat. The most natural "greenery" you'll find here is a couple of leafless AND mould-less sterile-looking logs in the hippo's enclosure. Why did I repeat sterile so many times? Perhaps because I see their attendants scrubbing the fish tank/ enclosures every corner I turn. And I don't remember seeing plants in there. Except one stalk for the tree lizard.

You've got to admit, this zoo is so different, so weird, so unlike what you'd expect of a "zoo", so intriguing and so classy with gorgeous displays that make you feel like you're in a high-end jewelry store, therefore so strangely beautiful yet deep down in your conscience, you probably know the animals are sad. I mean, come on, you don't look at an extremely clean yet devoid-of-activities mental asylum and go thinking, "well, at least the residents are well taken care of, they must be happy there".

We went there in May. I'm happy the earlier reviewers saw the white tiger. But we didn't. We heard he was sick. The crocodile laid so still in an empty tank with extremely clear water, that we almost thought it was fake. The pygmy hippo, which we were told just became a daddy, seemed to be a little distressed as he seemed to be charging left and right, in his 4x2metre full glass enclosure.

I was a little weirded out. Felt guilty for finding the place beautiful, though.

This place is located just beside Expo City and the nearest train station is Bampaku-kinen-koen Station (Osaka-Monorail Saito Line).

1st area are the fishes and the 2nd area are the land animals like white tiger, monkeys, birds, crocodiles, penguins etc.

Overall, it is a nice place to walk and it is all air-conditioned. Family and elderly friendly place.

I would agree that the place has a very interesting concept that you are actually more closer to the land animals. However, i do feel kind of sad for them as space seems to be quite limited for them since it is indoor. Nonetheless, I enjoyed myself on this visit.

If you are an animal lover who can only stand to see animals in natural habitats then this place definitely not for you. I certainly felt a bit of that here (especially with the white tiger, hippos, etc), but I really did enjoy the weird and modern concept of the place. It is visually stunning and it's amazing how they manage to pack so much into what looks like a fairly small building from the outside. If you can get over the fact that the place is designed to appeal to a kind of modern human aesthetic sense (and not to creating natural habitats for the animals) then it really is quite an experience. It's not cheap though so be prepared for that too. Worth a look I'd say for the average person.

As you enter this place, you will see tanks of interesting fish species. The concept is much a an exhibition with different themes at each zone. There are some rare species of fish that you will get to see.

The concept of having a zoo in-door is an interesting one. There are some animals roaming around but you are not allowed to touch or feed them. There is even a white tiger, crocodiles, and a hippo.

For those who are not comfortable seeing animals in enclosed places, this place may not be for you. My personal opinion is that some of the animals do not have sufficient place to roam and grow. But that's just my personal opinion. I find the concept interesting overall.

The walk from the train station to Nifrel was very nice, with the Tower of the Sun in clear view. Nifrel was not just functional but it was designed to wow the senses. Although small, it was a very good experience with nice friendly staff. Mostly locals and hardly any tourists. After visiting Nifrel, we made our way to the big mall for some shopping at Adidas and Loft, and lunch at the conveyor belt sushi restaurant. Overall very nice. To be honest, the crisp cool weather played a major part too!
