The Tower of the Sun looks almost comical, but it's a grand spectacle to behold when you finally see it for yourself. It's the central landmark of the Expo '70 Commemorative Park's Nature Gardens, and after circling the grounds, you return here to exit. There's so much history behind why the Tower of the Sun was built, and what it stands for, so take a picture with this beauty and enjoy the foliage of the park that is devoid of the crowds of tourists that can sometimes ruin the experience.

This is a huge park with various facilities such as sports facilities, children's playgrounds, beautiful flower gardens, park, barbeque section, museums, observation towers and Expocity a large shopping centers with hundreds of outlets.
That's why it is advisable to see a map after entering the main gate near Monorail Station. Because if you do not know your aim and direction here, it will waste time and get nothing.
Don't miss to take a photo in front of the 70 meter Tower of The Sun which is the icon of the Park called the Osaka Expo 70 Commemorative Park. The strange and unique shape of the tower is nice for photo spots.
Entrance ticket is ¥ 250 free with Osaka Amazing Pass.
The closest station to Expo 70 is Senri Chuo Station, change with Osaka Monorail stop at Bampaku Kinen Koen Station.

Was always fascinated with Expo 70 as a child, and was finally able to visit the last few remnants of that exposition as an adult. For the casual tourist, the Tower might not be worth the long trek out from Shin-Osaka station, but for me, it definitely was a bucket-list check item.
Unfortunately, I only had time to do a walk around of the tower for photos while it was still daylight, since the nearby Expo 70 Pavilion was closing at 5 PM, and I wanted to spend some time visiting there as well.
From the park entrance, the Tower provides a nice photo background, and there are some scenic paths that lead up to, and around it. Very impressive structure to view from at the base of it, and still holding up well after more than 50 years, though definitely the concrete exterior is looking quite weathered when seen up close.

Take pictures with the tower as a background, stroll around the park which is quite big if you want to explore it all. A lot of people also do sports here such running and nordic walking (they have specific routes for certain distances). There are also fascinating places inside which are worth to see. You also have to enter the tower if you want to see the history behind the tower itself.

I visited this statue just because i read it on 20th century boy manga. It is bizzare but one of a kind. Its ok to stop by if you want to visit the museum and park. Several time of a year, the park will have 'light up event' in winter, fall, and spring. At that time they will shoot video mapping to the statue. It was entertaining and worth visit

If you're in Osaka and you've eaten enough, seen enough costume wearing girls, enjoyed the public baths to the full, and generally soaked up the city then this park might be just what you need. It offers visitors a pleasant walk under trees and then there is of course the odd Tower of the Sun. It's tough getting a decent picture of it because they won't let you stand on the grass, but its well worth visiting the place on a nice warm day.

We traveled a bit to get to the park. The park itself is nice but not special. We were not aware that you had to have reservations to enter the tower. The entire park was empty but without reservations it seemed nothing was possible. We also attempted to eat at the BBQ section but after much back-and-forth we finally figured out that they could not figure out how to serve us.

As being the main monument of Expo70 park, do not miss out on the chance to snap a photo with you and your family or friends. I find the best spot is along the flower fields with the monument at the back. The spot is on your right after you enter through the main gate. However, winter is approaching so be quick before all the maple trees turn bald and flowers wither.

Hmmm. How to describe this thing?
Interesting whimsical monstrosity?
Upon encountering this object within the Expo 70 Commemorative Park, it struck me as mildly amusing. Upon looking at photos afterward, I wonder what the park area might have been like had it been fully landscaped without this thing? I think, perhaps, the park could have been nicer.

I would like to go inside of the Tower of the Sun . I tried checking the website but seems like I am unable to register as I am a foreigner. How can I get tickets to visit then?
