Hiruzen is a perfect place to relax and see Japanese countryside. Beautiful landscapes are dominated by hills, pastures and rivers. There are many flowers everywhere. We were surpriced that there are so many interesting places to visit: amusement park, herbal garden, mountains, onsens, springs, cheese factory, winery, stable, folk museum. Specialities like yakisoba noodles or dairy products may be tried in many local restaurants. We hiked on Hiruzen mountain with beautiful view on the surrounding hills, meadows, villages and nearby Daisen mountain. We also cycled a lot, especially on the cycling trail that goes round here.
We saw two festivals: one at a buddhist temple and one small music festival. The locals are active and they are interested in foreign cultures as it was always easy to start conversation with them.

This is a lovely place to explore if you are going to Daisen in Totorri prefecture. its near enough. It has a theme park, many restaurants and also a winery.
The winery is an awarded winery in the region. The wines taste like ribena but just alcoholic. Its a little sweet. the soft cream there also taste the same. Its not my kind of wine, but service was patient there. You can get a lot of wine products, like wine openers, non-alcoholic can drinks etc there.
To enjoy the area, go slow. very slow. You will catch up with yourself, life within the peaceful scenery. Move slowly and you will have a peaceful wandering time.
