陽明学者で江戸在府であった老中板倉勝静公の代わり幕末の混乱を指導しました。主が幕府方として函館と転戦する中、新政府側に恭順しました。その為ここの藩主をすげ替えたようです。ただ教育に財政に随分と結果を出した方ですね。

備中高梁駅前のタクシー乗り場の前にたっています。駅に到着した時点では、まだどういう人物か知りませんでした。あとで備中松山城や武家屋敷、郷土資料館などをまわり幕末の備中松山藩の大改革をおこなった大人物であることを知りました。駅前に像が建立されていることに、なるほどと納得しました。

高梁市観光にて備中高梁駅を降りて、タクシー乗り場近くにある山田方谷の像です。像の近くには解説もあるので人物を理解しやすくて良かったです○

名前を聞いてもピンときませんでしたが、庶民への学問が盛んだった岡山で、閑谷学校へも教えに行った幕末の備中松山藩の功労者だと言われました。

駅前のタクシー乗り場のところに銅像がありました。深刻な財政難だった備中松山藩を立て直し藩政改革を行った人物です。山田方谷を登用した藩主・板倉勝静は徳川慶喜の元、老中筆頭となり、戊辰戦争でも幕軍として函館まで転戦したそうです。この二人のことは今回の訪問で初めて知りましたが、もっと知られてもいい人物ではないかと思いました。

幕末の偉人。藩においては藩政改革に取り組んで借金を完済するとともに、老中となった藩主を支えた偉人。戊辰戦争は苦労して藩を守ったようです。駅前に銅像があります。

駅周りをリニューアル にあたり 地元の 誇る 山田方谷 の像が 駅に 建てられました。
今の時代にも 効かすことのできる 財産としての 思想 手法 人材を 育て大きな功績を 残しました。
