国の重要文化財の１つでした。

煉瓦造りの重厚な建物でした。
陶磁の専売局の歴史を感じられるスポットなので
後世に残してほしいですね！

塩が専売品だった時代、ここに塩が保管されていたそうです。瀬戸内海は今でもそうですが、塩の産地ですから、こういう蔵があってもおかしくありません。産業遺産的にも優れた建造物です。

塩の専売

　専売公社が記憶にある世代でないと、なかなか価値がわかりにくいかもしれない。塩や米、たばこは明治38年に国の専売制に移行した。この建物は専売制スタートの３年後の明治41年に竣工した旧大蔵省の建物だ。やはりこの一帯は塩の一大産地だったのだろう。塩田が一大産業だった往時をしのばせる産業遺産だ。全国に造られた塩務局所だが、現存しているものは少なく、庁舎と文庫がセットで残っているのはここと赤穂のみだという。文庫は赤レンガの印象的な建物だ。
