We first paid a visit to the castle ruins which is on a hill top about fifty meters above sea level. This has now become a city park and a keep has been constructed in modern years as a museum. There is a strong stone...More

Inside you will see about Japanese samurai history and their uniform including sword. On the third floor of castle you will see the night view of Kitsuki city.

I was told this was the smallest existing castle of all in Japan. However, I really enjoyed the view. There were three floors. The top floor actually overlooked the mountains, the sea and the castle town under the hill. The entrance fee was 300 yen....More

One of the smaller castles in Japan. Has a small graveyard in the grounds leading up to the castle. Great view of the area around kitsuki from a small observation area outside the castle.

Perhaps I need to visit again, but I was not impressed by the castle itself. The town is far more charming. I didn`t go inside the castle, and found the construction below rather distracting from the seaside view. The was a man carving bamboo who...More

Yes I have to agree with previous posting that this castle is small in comparison to Osaka, Himiji and other castles in Japan, but.... I happen to love Japan's wonderful history and enjoy visiting the many smaller towns with their own unique history and I...More

In Japan there are many a city and town that keeps a medieval-style castle standing and boasts the lineage as the seat of feudal lord. However, most of them only have castle buildings and little else. Kitsuki is different: it has not only kept the...More

It is just a small castle, incomparable to those in Himeji, Osaka or even Kumamoto. English explanation/guide is also very limited. Unless you really love anything related to Japanese castle, it not worth of visiting.
