Feb 2018 • Couples
We originally came into the area for the fox village, but booked our return train tickets later in the day. We had heaps of time to kill so we made our way through this tiny little village and followed the signs until we reached the samurai house.
admitance fees were surprisingly low, and it is a self guided tour (english maps/information available)
We travelled in feb 2018 and everything had a light dusting of snow, which added to the charm; i have some amazing photos on my phone that i cherish.
The bonsai garden and the moat around the house also added to the beauty.
It was very interesting to see original japanese housing; especially the paper windows and doors.
I wouldnt recommend travelling all this way from the major cities just for this activity, although with castles and other attractions in the area (sake museum) it will definately stretch out your day. The town itself is rather small and has a country feel compared to the hustle and bustle of the larger towns and i really enjoyed the tranquility.

A small site but shows a setting more typical of Japan's edo era elite than that of the vast estate showcased in Aizu
