The sound of river/falls and the contrast of nature color healed me. The Kikuchi Valley is not so far from Kumamoto Airport. So, I recommend, if you felt stressed for something, please go there...

There's ample paid parking spaces with fees of 300Yen per car. The carpark is approximately 150m from the entrance of Kikuchi Valley. Before you arrived at the entrance, you will find vendors selling roasted chestnut, grilled corns etc. Was shocked to know an entrance fee...More

Went there on January when the snow covered the whole pass. It was tranquil but slippery!! The falls are magnificent and the scenery is perfect. Recommend to take 2 kilometer hike route. You sure need a car since the public transportation is scarce.
