The Muroto Peninsula is a geologically unique place and has been designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark. I think it is more unique worldwide than the Japanese designations. Cape Muroto has its own category, so this is a review of the rest. On National Route 55 from Tokushima Airport to Cape Muroto, there is a cape called Shikaokahana, where you can find the Shikaoka Meoto Iwa. There is also a rock where you can see beautiful tafoni.
Further towards Cape Muroto, there is the Geopark Center. I recommend stopping by before going to Cape Muroto, as it will be more enjoyable if you have knowledge of it in advance. Also, when I went there, it was the off-season, so there were no places to eat or shops at Cape Muroto, so I regret not buying food at the few shops there. I recommend checking around lunchtime and buying food just in case. The parking lot was very large.

My main purpose was to visit Saigosakiji Temple, but looking out to sea from the national highway along the coast, I saw large, rugged rocks lined up and found the coast to be unexpectedly rugged.
Also, looking out over the area from the observation deck of Muroto Cape Lighthouse, I was able to see the rough waves up close, which was different from looking down from an airplane flying overhead.

乱礁遊歩道（らんしょうゆうほどう）は、高知県室戸市室戸岬町（こうちけんむろとしむろとみさきちょう）にある海岸線沿いの遊歩道だ。
室戸岬周辺は奇岩が多く、ユネスコのジオパークにも指定されている。
その珍しい地形を見ながら散策できることから、人気が高い。
この日は御厨人窟を見た。
車はこのまま御厨人窟に置いておき、乱礁遊歩道に向かった。
国道55号線を渡ると、すぐに入り口だ。
スロープを下りていく。
すぐ目の前に太平洋が広がる。
説明看板。
ホルンフェルスの説明だ。
海沿いの、眺めの良い遊歩道だ。
やがてビシャゴ岩という大きな岩までやってきた。
ビシャゴ岩には、「おさご」という美女の伝説が残る。
やがて、行水の池（ぎょうずいのいけ）に到着。
弘法大師が行水したと伝わる場所だ。
背後の岩壁がへこんでいるが、これは波に浸食されたもの。

そもそも、「室戸ユネスコ世界ジオパーク」とは、簡単にいうと、室戸全域を網羅した大地の公園のことだそうです。その室戸の大地で、遊び、研究、学び、保護、地球を感じる的なことらしいです。
私の場合は、オートバイで、四国半周の旅をしているとき、室戸岬を中心とした四国の55号線の海岸沿いで室戸大地を感じることができました。
鹿岡の夫婦岩、室戸岬のビシャゴ岩などの遊歩道、吉良川のまちなみなど興味深いスポットがいくつもありました。特に岩関係のエリアは私的にお勧めします。

室戸ユネスコ世界ジオパークセンターで地形地質の説明を見ることができます。
室戸岬は隆起しています。そのため、この地にある空海が修行したという御厨人窟（みくろど）もかつては波打ち際にあったのではないかということです。
そして、地震がある度に隆起して港が浅くなってしまい、大変なようです。
また、この地は隆起しているため海岸段丘になっており、海岸沿いの「上」の尾根部分の平地があって利用されていたりします。

国道55号線沿いに建つ中岡慎太郎像近くの遊歩道を入った先にある海底が隆起して形成された数多くの奇岩。遊歩道途中には岩を抱いている様な形で根を生やすアコウの木が見れる。

数十年ぶりの県南から室戸へ。本当によく整備されっています。灯台への道、深海であったという説明、岩、すべてが自然を感じ取れる素敵な場所でした。
