今回の宿毛市周辺の観光と遍路の中では「最高」のハイライトでした

大概、幕末前後の遺物なんて物には個人的には全く興味もなく何の価値も覚えない物ばかりだが、これだけは別、今回の宿毛の中では最高の文化財として飽きることなく観察していました。何の変哲もない高床式の小屋みたいなものですが、絶妙の建築物だと思いました。ここは幕末から大正時代にかけて高知県西部地区内にあった「泊まり屋」の一つで、今では芳奈地区に４か所を残すだけになってしまいました。この小屋は未婚の青年が泊まり込み、夜間警備とか祭りや地域の風俗を継承、集落の行事や運営への協力などが協議されていたそうです。国の重要民俗資料に指定されています。近くの道の駅すくもにもレプリカが展示されていました。
