So we started for Geibikei, yes the other gorge which we reached to find it was closed. Grump grump so we made our way back to Ichinoseki which has an excellent tourist centre just outside the train station. A helpful lady with some words of...More

I have been to Gembi Valley a couple of times, I highly recommend this place in late April when the cherry blossoms and daffodils are in bloom or in autumn. Very breath-taking view. The 'flying dango' is a quirky touch to the experience.

The gorge is rather small but with nice view. From the parking area near some souvenir shops it doesn’t seem like the river gorge is just a short walk away. Here you can witness an interesting “flying Dango”, Japanese rice dumplings served with a cup...More

This isn't a place to base your trip around but certainly a must if you are travelling to the area. The gorge is beautiful; stunning blue water, a beautiful rocky gorge with heavy flowing water and nice walks. We were there in Autumn so the...More

Genbikei is small compared to Geibikei (the one with boats) but I enjoyed my visit. Paths lead along the banks of the gorge, with views of eroded rock and swirling water. There's a swaying little suspension bridge. Looks of happy people but not crowded. It's...More
