The "Iwate Prefecture Hachimantai Snow Corridor" is the longest in Japan. The 27-kilometer-long snow corridor. The official name is "Prefectural Road No. 23". But everyone usually calls it by the nickname "Hachimantai Aspite Line". .Across Iwate Prefecture and Akita Prefecture. Today is the first day of opening this year. It’s awesome. A very spectacular snow wall. I would like to express my 120,000 thanks to the hard workers who opened the snow road! Really beautiful and spectacular!

The Hachimantai Aspite Line opens on April 15, and closes again in early November every year. In April there are enormous walls of snow towering on either side of the road forming the famous snow corridor.
In the summertime it's great for visiting the summit to hike with beautiful views of the mountains along the way.
In the fall the view of the autumn leaves is unrivaled! Really a great road to drive for the entire period that it's open.

As the Jukai Line was closed, I took the Aspy Line from Shizukuishi to Akita Papillary Onsen.
It was cool to drive in the mountains, although there were many curves.
