Typical Japanese shopping street, fully under cover and packed with all sorts of culinary delights. Specialising in cooked octopus, squid and cockles, but also has those little squid balls and other oddities. Dried seafood feature heavily also with squashed and dried octopus most prevalent. Fried gyozas abound so bring your appetite!

After a morning out fishing in Akashi, we went to the Uontana covered shopping market where we had a real local specialty : Akashijaki. It looks like egg buns which are filled with a chicken or octopus. The buns are served with a type of miso soup as a dip substance. I really enjoyed going there with friends and having a real local dish. A place were you would not end up if you do not know. Culturally a great experience, the food is great for a lunch or snack. The mall is nice to visit and look at the fish and octopus which is sold in little shops.

If you are in the area it's worth it to walk down this street to see all the seafood for sale. It's interresting to see the fish and octopus crawling around but you can see this at other markets as well.
