Take the ferry to Almada from Lisbon and after a nice seafood dinner go for an after-drink at Ginjal. This place that must have been build around the 1930s with some renovation in the 1970s still breathes this nostalgic and vintage atmosphere. From the fully shell-covered entrance to the rough painted arches and the old grand-hotel chairs, this bar has it all. Not always crowed, but always an experience. Get some cherry liquor (ginga) or the almond version (amarguinha) and enjoy the view over the water thanks to the inside-outside feeling of this 1 floor bar, where the music is cheesy and the faded disco lights might remind you of some wedding parties of long ago. Quirky, fun and cheap for drinks!

Stumbled across this place on a warm autumn evening as the sun was going down...we where drawn in by the music coming from the open windows on the top floor...so we went for a nosey... it was like stepping back in time... ballroom.. guy on a keyboard.. dancing... large open windows that looked out over the river onto the twinkling lights of Lisbon... it was all really back to basics ... lovely lady served us bottles of beer which we sat & drank on the outdoor terrace with only 3 other people looking out over to Lisbon... we felt like we had entered a timewarp.... fantastic... it will most certainly be on my list next time Im in town. Thankyou x

I had already heard rumors that whoever works in this place (bar staff and security) is neither professional nor has respect for the people who go there.
I heard that the security was transfobic, conflicting, and without any ethics. Apparently everyone there is like that.
Yesterday I decided to go to the Ginjal Club for the first time and the service was deplorable.
One of the women serving at the bar has no profile to deal with customers and was absolutely poorly polite, aggressive and zero level, seeming to seek conflict. She really seemed to be altered from some narcotic because she had a lot of eyes when she spoke. She called herself the "woman of space."
Situation:
After I ordered my drink at the counter, a young man under 20 years old arrived and asked for his, and he in a tone of joking and laughing, gave a kick (near the counter) because he couldn’t see his drink being prepared, because whoever attended him was hiding the preparation of the drink, placing himself completely in front and covering the vision.
In this comes to such another woman (the "wife") and began to flatter and be absolutely aggressive with the young man, treating the situation with more emphasis than necessary.
Any person psychologically fit and stable to serve the public would not act with the lack of respect of this woman, who sought conflict.
The young man went on to apologize immediately, having the woman ignored.
As I was observing the whole unfinished situation, I said low to my friend Rita "What is the need for so much aggression?"
In this the woman turned to me, extremely exalted, and asks "What is the need of what?!!".
I limited myself to answering your question calmly, "I said what the need is to be so aggressive."
The woman's answer was "But who are you?" to which I replied "I am Marta, and you who are you?" I repeat that at any time I went down to lack of level and was not aggressive or poorly polite with anyone.
The woman continued to take off her coat, shake her fists and call me out of the place in an attempt to intimidate me. I limited myself to following her calmly, because I was finding the situation absurd and not giving the emphasis she would like me to give. And it seemed to bother her even more.
The woman didn’t like feeling wrong in the situation and wanted to escalate the conflict, eventually expelling me, my friend, and the young man.
I repeat that none of us were poorly polite, aggressive, or even raised our voices. We have only tried to defend ourselves with due dignity.
One of the security guards was also violent with the young man, stinging him on the stairs (something dangerous) and then continuing to intimidate him.
I will make a complaint about the situation in the proper place, as any customer has the right to complain (Consumer Law).
