This area is really beautiful. Shady, pine scented walks leading to spectacular views over the beach and ocean below. Several picnic areas with plenty of parking. Find a small path leading to your own spot amongst the flora to relax and breathe in nature at it's finest. Perfection. Well, in April it was. Obviously it will be more populated in the height of Summer but there's plenty of room for all I think.
Walk or drive down to the beach below - Praia da Fonte da Telha - to admire the cliffs. Eat and drink while watching the waves, the birds following the fishing boats and the sunset extraordinaire. An un-developed and majestic part of the coast, well worth a visit.

This is a protected area that goes from Caparica to Meco, part of it is reserved during the summer due to the risk of fire.
Area also called Mata dos Medos.
It is called fossil because you can see the remaining of the hills after the withdraw of the sea and after hundreds of Years of erosion.
Fantastic to have this kind of landscape on top of the beach. Lots of pines, birds and nature in the wild, and you can see the views to the sea and reach the beach in some locations.
Some routes are available within the forest, but it is better with a guide.

We stumbled across this beach by chance and were not disappointed. The beach was very wide and far reaching. There were places to eat and drink as well as rent a sun bed for €5 for the day. There is also a lot of parking so really easy!

This place offers one of the best views over the Atlantic just south of Lisbon. A natural spot whre we can enjoy flora and fauna along with geological attractions and walk down the cliffs to reach a superb beach allmost empty of people. Use your senses, smell the scents of natural plants and listen to the birds. Best times is to arrive early in the morning, spend a full day in the beach and return by the sunset.
