This is an information centre. You can get to know about the Aroville and how it was formed and the history behind. You can book tickets for visit to Mantrimandir. You can browse around shops and get small and big gift items. A little bit expensive. Good cafetaria available nearby

I have visited Auroville 4 times in the past as many years. It is a lovely place. The Visitor center is very tourist friendly place. It is very peaceful, the food court is lovely and the meals are super healthy. I had a Healthy Meal - it was a full meal with Beetroot soup and salad and a lot of other things. It s a must visit place for any tourist in Pondichery.. The shops there are also lovely.

This place is far from the city. If you plan to go there , arrange a return transfer in advance because it gets difficult to find otherwise.
Wear very comfortable shoes because there is long walk of around 4-5Km to reach to the viewing spot.
If you have difficulty in walking , there is a bus service that also takes you to the viewing spot.
If you wish to enter the ashram, you need to make bookings 2 days in advance else you can only view it from a distance.
The walk to the ashram is easy and amidst greenery.
There is a cafe nearby to quench your thirst or hunger.
There are also handicraft shops which sells pure and herbal home made products.

This is basically an info and shopping center. Apart from Matrimandir passes, you cannot book there anything else, like the Auroswim ocean swimming lessons or yoga classes.

Visit to Auroville is incomplete without going to the Visitor’s Centre.
For the first-timers:
• here is where you get to know about the Auroville concept and their unique way of life.
And for all others:
• You get your passes for the visit to Mantru Mandir.
• You get to rest your weary legs, quench your thirst with clean ground water (yes, no need to buy bottled water!).
• You can eat in the restaurant – beware the service can be quite slow…
• You can do shopping for incense, diffusers, pottery, dress, paper-made jewelry, organic food, and many other hand-made artefacts that are made in Auroville.
• And, you get to use clean toilets!

Once you are inside Auroville, a good idea is to pay a quick visit to the visitors center (you will pass it anyways when you enter). It’s an informative, clean, and organized small exhibition hall where you are enlightened on the different ideologies, overarching themes, and whatnot on the Auroville town and how life there is lived in order for them to reach the “Divine Consciousness” that Sri Aurobindo has taught his followers about. Very informative and well set-up place for the layman to just get a sense of how the place works, although I will say that it is indeed a complex concept to grasp at first! (Also, make sure while you are there to watch the information video; also very informative and more engaging for the kids to watch).
