I was completely new to Klang and to Malaysia and this tour helped me to understand so much about the place.
Shah is a charismatic tour guide and answered every question I had. The tour visits the gallery, a traditional sari shop and you can see inside the Royal Klang Club without being a member.
The city is well worth a visit for a weekend, so make the most of this and take the free tour.

Who knew Klang was such a buzzing historical town! You meet at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Gallery at approx. 9am, you can either drive or catch the train, the station is just a 5min walk away. That morning our guide was Jane. She started the tour with a brief introduction of Klang and how it came about it was really interesting. Next we went to a sari shop which originally was the treasury and eventually became the chartered bank of India, Australia & china and today it is a beautiful sari/ silk shop. Next we went to the Royal Klang Club, a lot of the original building has been renovated but they kept 2 rooms as what it used to be the smuggler's inn which is the dinning hall and Admiral Ben Bow inn which is the common water hole, it was interesting to see such a different décor to these rooms as the rest of the building. We then walked on to gaze at the palace from afar and listened to the history and back story about the royal family. I was surprised when Jane mentioned that the palace was demolished and rebuilt to what it is today. We walked down to the church through the luscious greens of the park. I was impressed to see a gothic church that was really well kept it was Our Lady Lourdes. we walked to and around town we saw an Indian temple, which was stunning with all its sculpture to its front gate. An Indian Muslim mosque which was renovated to accommodate more people and function within the mosque. The last stop was the fire station which was quaint, it has a small gallery and probably one of the oldest cast iron safe in the country! we got to get into the fire truck and I got to try the mask the fire fighters wear when they need to get air when fighting fire. I really did like Jane's description of the architecture of the Gallery, the town and of other buildings along the way.

Our family (five person) participated in this on 16 Feb, 2019. We had a pleasant and informative tour thanks to our tour guide. She's smart, kind, helpful, humour and she gave clear explanation + stories.
I've been staying in Klang for more almost 20 years but I've never visit those places, so this tour really gave me an deep insight about the histories. Thank you!

If you're in Kuala Lumpur, I'd recommend going to Klang and participating in this free heritage walk. We had Fui as our tour guide and she explains a lot ranging from historical significance to religious diversity to present-day city facts. It is a bit lengthier than I anticipated - about two and a half hours - so be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water, an umbrella for sun/rain protection, and something to fan yourself with. My friends and i were amazed with the information and you walk away definitely reflecting. This is a must-do experience!

My wife Ruth and I decided to take a short trip to this beautiful old heritage Royal Town. It was a short but a sweet tour for both of us. We drove from Seremban and it took us around 1 hour 30 minutes through the highway. We crossed the bridge to the old Royal town. The busiest street is Jalan Tengku Kelana (the old name is Jalan Raya). The whole stretch of the road is almost complete Indian shops just like you can see in India. Many tourist and people from other states come here to shopping. We saw the Heritage Royal Mosque, the Old Bus Station, the 89 year old Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, the Convent School, the famous roundabout and many more. We had lunch at the famous and the oldest Jai Hind restaurant and bought some Indian sweets before returning home. There are so many interesting things to visit but time did not allow us to do so. It was a fruitful and a happy day for us.

Had a great tour guide Shah very knowledgeable, humorous and open minded.
He very friendly and warm.
6 of us, two friends from UK and four of us from Petaling Jaya got to know more about the history of Klang. Most of us when we mentioned Klang we think of seafood and Bak Kut Teh! However there nice old fashioned Kueh and Nasi Lemak a stone throw from the meeting point. Easy walk no need to prepare anything just come with good walking sandals or shoes. Can wear shorts and T-shirt. Beware of some mosquitoes .
We unfortunately was too late to taste the local Bak Kut Teh as when we finished our walk at 12 noon it was all sold out . However Shah introduced us to nice cendol on the way back.
There also a mystery to be solved in the Fire station as there a old safe that been accidentally lock and no one has the key. There may be some treasure inside!
No fee required and no booking required too unless it is a big group.
Meeting point is 9-9.15am at Gallery Di Raja Sultan Abdul Aziz and it’s 2.5 hours, less than 4km all in.

I heard over the radio of such a walking tour. I presented myself at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Gallery at around 8.45am and Alex Raj was there already. After the others have arrived, we completed the registration and were briefed on what the walk tour was about and safety aspects as we would be walking in some of the busiest roads in Klang town. Starting with the museum which houses the exhibition in honour of Sultan Abdul Aziz we then visited the old Chartered Bank building which is a Saree Center, then the Royal Klang Club, the Istana and its surrounding compound, the Church of Lourdes, Convent School, Temple and the Indian Muslim Mosque in the Little India along the Tengku Kelana Road leading to The Klang Fire Station and the Gedung Raja Abdullah (only from the outside as it was closed for renovation). I think the walk gave an interesting insight of the 19th and 20th Century of Klang. Alex Raj kept our attention and interest throughout the walk with interesting stories and narration of the less known history of Klang, the communities, personalities and events. I strongly recommend this trip for all including school children.

We were visiting Malaysia on the Princess Sapphire cruise ship and due to dock in Port Kelang our problem was we did not want to visit Kuala Lumpur again so looked for other option and the Royal Klang walk was discovered, our problem was we were visiting in the week and the trip did not run. We made contact and were referred to Alex who is one of the tour guides. He was marvellous, kept in touch by email, arranged the ferry over to Crab Island which is a must visit and ensured everything ran to plan, including collecting us from the port and most importantly ensuring we were back in time for departure. Alex made the trip an enjoyable experience , the local food stall was extremely enlightening when we ate and drank items we would never have tried without expert guidance. Certainly if you are on a cruise and do not want the long journey th K.L. or like us you have been before try out Klang and Crab Island with Alex.

I cannot believe this tour is not fully booked. Our tour guide Ms Fui was probably one of the most knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide I've ever met. This tour tells you a history of Klang that most locals would have no knowledge about. The tour is particularly long (ours went on for 4.5 hours) because Ms Fui was really enthusiastic in 'enlightening' us about Klang and what it has to offer (every stop has a interesting story behind them). Do book in for this tour and I assure you it will leave you asking for more. And also Klang has really nice food so Ms Fui can certainly recommend the best food round the corner after the tour. Tip: Bring a bottle of water, sunscreen, mosquito repellant and umbrella to shade yourself from the tropical heat. Oh, it is a free tour but we were left so impressed that we insisted Ms Fui accepts our tip as a sign of our gratitude for her time!

a must see when in kl to take a short train ride to klang and go on this free guided city tour jointly organised by tourism selangor and klang municipal council. my friend from tokyo and i were the very first overseas visitors to go on this walk, led by ms fui, our most delightful guide whose knowledge was like an encyclopedia, it was so, so, so impressive.
a real treat for us, the normal 2 hour tour stretched to 4.5, which we thoroughly enjoyed as we discovered the history of klang. we even were at the only fire station museum in malaysia which is situated in klang!
after the tour, jump on the train to port klang which is just a few stops away. from port klang get onto a ferry to pilau ketang for mind boggling choice of fresh seafood, so good, you will just die!
