First time in this Onsen
Dec 2018 • Solo
I was looking for an Onsen that would be close to Miyajima. Since I’m based in Iwakuni when I come to Japan, this Onsen is right in the middle of the way back from Miyajima on route 2.
There are a couple of hotels around it and a parking lot on the other corner from this Onsen.
Like an typical Onsen, you leave the shoes at the front door, then you go to the cashier after getting a ticket from the machine. Since I was not in any hotel, the price was 700 yens. It pays if you take a towel with you and save the 150 yen rental towel.
The area is not big. What I didn’t like is that the area you scrub your body is not separated from the basins.
The plus side is that they have a terrace with a basin and a jacuzzi outside.
Usually frequented by locals. I was the only tourist.
The receptionist could handle some English.

First time experience with a toddler

I have to say that it is slightly difficult to communicate as the staffs do not know English. Everything mostly through gestures and pictures.

My Son whom just turn 3 yrs old are free entry and get to join me in the female onsen. I was really shy about being naked during changing but after seeing my son so excited about "Swimming in hot water", I totally forgotten to be shy and really enjoyed the whole onsen experience. There were shower area and we just copied what the local do. The locals were very kind & friendly when they see me not knowing how to get hot water to shower, they helped despite not being able to communicate. I would definitely love to try the outdoor onsen however I have my Son with me so I decided to give it a go for fear that he will catch a cold outdoor.

The restaurant upstairs is a definite must try. Cheap, good and child friendly :D
