Miyajima is definitely worth visiting especially if you have nice weather. We got the train to the ferry and made the crossing to the island. Although busy it was fine. The deer are cute and quite inquisitive! There is a shrine on the island that you can walk around. There was a wedding on when we walked round. We went... More

We came back to Miyajima this trip just to show our friends. It is a beautiful place easily accessible from Hiroshima and is a welcome relief from the constant hustle and bustle of the bigger cities. Best bet is to stay a night and enjoy Miyajima when the crowds subside in the afternoon, a truly magical place.

Miyajima isn't far away from Hiroshima, and you don't need to spend very long on the train then ferry to get there. Hiroshima is hard, for the right reasons, but Miyajima is a great opportunity to relax and refresh. Heading into Miyajima on the ferry you will see the famous Torii gate for the first time, which is especially lovely... More

Miyajima is such a beautiful little island near Hiroshima. There are roaming deer, walking trails, temples, street food, small shops, beautiful views, and it was also the only place I found citrus Kit Kats! I spent only half a day there and I wish I had more time, there is so much to see and do. Definitely worth the trip... More

We enjoyed many shops in interesting shopping streets and the streets were much much longer than I imagined. So we could spend many hours in there. We also enjoyed the nature of course. Especially when we took its ropeway and ferry.

I was tight on time at 630 checked out from Hiroshima peace park hotel , it was off season so fares were cheap. The hotel gave me a tram map and a geography map, was very useful as the Japanese hardly speak or understand English, but they are extremely polite and willing to help with directions, where they could be... Easy access by train and street car (tram) from Hiroshima to ferry terminal. Easy-Moderate effort walk to the cable car and then onto the summit with rewarding views at the top and along the way. Even the 4yo walked it (with the occasional help). Great small town atmosphere with many local delicacies on offer. Well worth the visit.

We went here from Hiroshima. Short train and ferry trip to get there, all covered by the JR pass. The sights were amazing. The shrine (statue) in the water was nothing like I have ever seen before. Makes for excellent photographs. Then on the island we were greeted by wild deer just walking around the island. You can pat them... More

Everything about this place is enjoyable. Whether you come for the food, the hiking, or the history, you will not be disappointed. Take the rope way to the top for great views. Try the freshest BBQ oysters at the small restaurant about halfway down through the walkway

A great excursion. A whole day trip is the best, so as to see the tides. A hike to the temple on the mountain side provides great views of the Hatsukaichi City.
