Clean restrooms and WiFi
Dec 2019
This is a nice visitors center with free WiFi and clean restrooms. There are many exhibits but almost no English at all so unless you can read Japanese it is not super informative. I found it a nice place to get out of the cold wind (December) for a bit while the kids ran around.

Visitor’s centre in the hotel lobby
Jan 2019
The visitor’s centre is located in the lobby of the hotel. There is a restaurant, a gift shop and I didn’t see much more than that.
The shop is small but has a wide selection of souvenirs.
They don’t accept credit cards, so make sure you carry cash.

Okunoshima Island Visitor Center, 01 Jul'18
Jul 2018
01 July, 2018.
The `Rabbit Island' has a small visitor's center located quite
close to the port area where the ferry docks (the main one, I
guess). The small museum has an interesting wooden structure,
with small exhibits of the flora and fauna of the region, which
includes the sea life around in the Seto Inland Sea as well. The
place has a ramp to a lower level, and exhibits on the walls.
A small but interesting place.

not much to see
Jul 2018 • Family
There are not too many things to see in the visitor center comparing to other visitor center in Japan. I would prefer to spend more time with the rabbits there instead of going to the visitor center.

Free- worth a visit
Nov 2016 • Family
Okunoshima Island Visitor Center is very close by to other attractions such as the light house and shrine. It's worth visiting as it's free and you will learn about the island & animals here.

This visitor center is only a few minutes walk from the dock. Here you can learn about the island and the animals that inhabit the island.

How to get to Rabbit Island
Dec 2016 • Family
The best way to go to Rabbit Island is by train, so you need to buy a Japan Rail Pass (7day, 14day or 21 day) before flying to Japan. Ok this is how you do:

1- Get a ticket from Hiroshima Shinkensen Station to Mihara by Japan Rail Pass. The ticket will tell you time, carriage number, sit number, name and number of the Train, and the flaform number is 14.

2- When you are in Mihara station, transfer to local train by looking for sign "Kure line for Takehara" and go down flatform 1. This yellow train will take you to Tadanoumi Station.

3- when you are in Tadanoumi Station, get out and turn right walk about 400m and turn right again, this will lead you to Okunoshima Port. You can buy ferry ticket here by a machine, 620yen per person. Remember bring Food for Rabbits with you or you can get some from Seven Eleven shop in the Tadanoumi Station... Ferry will take about 10 minutes to get to the Island... and this is where you will see a lot and a lot of Rabbit... they're all so cute, we are so much in love with them and will come back..

Hope this will help and good luck

Cheer

Good displays
Aug 2016 • Friends
There's lots to see here and the kids would love it, there seems to be classes that they hold for kids like workshops as you can see things that hve been made on display.

More geared to children than adults.
Aug 2016 • Family
There are some informative displays, but nothing I found exciting. Its free, so worth a stop in. There's a model of the island, and some craft displays.

Ideal place for people who like rabbits
Jul 2016 • Family
My wife and kids love rabbits and were in heaven on this island. There are rabbits everywhere, you can feed them, take pictures of them and enjoy their cuteness. I was happy to see my family so happy. Other than the rabbits, the island is so-so. The hotel had good food but is overpriced. There are OK hiking trails with decent views of the Seto Inland Sea. And everywhere you go there are rabbits.
