道路に面した旧家

東城街中を散策していた際に立寄りました。
道路に面した大きな旧家のようで広い土間に当たる部分から館内に入るようになっていました。流石に名家だけあって公開されている部屋は広く風通しも良さそうでした。

明治期を代表する贅を尽くした豪商の館です(^^)/

　明治期において、横山林太郎、長一親子が建築した日本文化の粋を集めた和風建築です。2011(平成23)年1月26日に国登録有形文化財に登録されました。
　まず、その威風堂々とした主屋に感動を覚えます。そして何より嬉しいのは、女性職員の方が丁寧に各部屋の説明をしてくれることでした。説明があるからこそ、感動の度合いが広がります。一時期、旅館業を営んでいたため、各部屋の幾つかは完全個室になっています。その各部屋も個性的になっていて非常に興味深いです。
　離れは、特に贅を尽くした芸術作品です。一階大広間の床の間には、黒檀や鉄刀木(タガヤサン)が使用されています。欄間は、屋久杉の一枚板で｢牡丹唐獅子｣が彫られています。付書院の欄間は、｢吹寄花菱格子｣という細工がされています。二階には｢花形の窓｣が有り目を引きます。
　色々書き出すときりが有りません。和風建築に興味の有る方に是非ともお勧めします。こんなに素晴らしい施設であるにも関わらず、入場料は無料です。駐車場は8台分(無料)が有ります。
