この寺院は巨木「菩提樹」で有名でした

ここは盛景寺と書いて「じょうけいじ」と読みます。盛景禅寺とも云います。臨済宗妙心寺派寺院で十一面観世音菩薩をご本尊とする古寺です。この寺院の裏山には県指定天然記念物の菩提樹の大木がありました。樹高は２５ｍ程度、根回りは３．２ｍ。幹回りと云わなかったのはこの大木の幹が４本に分かれていたからです。樹齢約７００年とか・・。西暦７４１年に行基が手植えしたとの寺伝があるそうです。鬱蒼とした森の中の巨木で、得も言われぬ霊木、神秘性を感じる菩提樹でした。
